Young trade never discussed by Cubs.
I hope I did that link right. Apparently Rogers' (of the Trib) says that when Michael Young was available, the Cubs never even discussed going after him because they are so committed to Theriot. At least that's the way I read it.
I don't exactly believe it, but I thought others might find it interesting. Or at least amusing.

Phil Rogers is clueless
Ignore anything he says. The reason the Cubs ignored Young (and Rogers conveniently did not mention) is:
5 years/$80M (2009-13)
* signed extension with Texas 3/07, with Rangers exercising $5M 2008 club option as part of the deal
* 09-13:$16M annually (total of $15M deferred)
* no-trade protection 2007-09, limited no-trade protection from 2010 to May, 2011 (submits list of 8 clubs to which he’d accept trade), before receiving 10-and-5 rights in May, 2011
* award bonuses, including $25,000 for Gold Glove
Young has an awful contract. No one wants him.
And, this was discussed here in detail last week.

Where?
I didn’t see a post.
For someone who rarely posts, I thought this was an appropriate fanshot. Geez.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Right. That's why I said it was amusing.
Figured it’s a cold Sunday morning with nothing else to talk about.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Give me Demon or Chris (the pitcher) Young instead
I think he has since backed off his stance and agreed to move to third, but then they were linked to Vizquel to play SS, so perhaps Andrus is as ready as they thought? either way, it appears they want Young out of short
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
why title this
Young to the Cubs?
this is about Young NOT coming to the Cubs

Yeah, in addition to being a topic heavily discussed last week...
pretty deceiving post.
deceiving?
okay everyone needs to chill out. wow never thought people would be so bitchy about a fanshot (not a post souterncub).
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Whatever...
I didn’t think we got bitchy. Though I’m not sure why you’re so quick to point out the distinction between a fanshot and a fanpost. It was still a deceiving title. Thanks for changing it.
Please show me the fanshot or post...
…that discussed the topic I posted. I never saw one. Plus I had never read on BCB the wrinkle involving Theriot. I thought it was something people would be interested in reading, but everyone flipped out.
I point out that it’s a fanshot and not a post because I knew it wasn’t a big story, just something people might be interested in. I rarely ever post my own stories on here, so it’s irritating that when I do people jump all over me.

Where's the mention...
…about the reason the Cubs didn’t pursue Young is because of Theriot?
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Typical Rogers garbage...
So not being interested in Young equals a commitment to Theriot? As if the fact that 1) the Cubs have got lefties on the brain at the moment, and 2) the Young contract is ludicrous wouldn’t have anything to do with that.
Do you know
Young’s batting avg is only 260 on the road . And way over 300 at home , in hitters friendly Texas stadium ? He sucks away from home . And too expensive ..
Who are you talking to?
If it was directed to me, I don’t know why. I was not advocating acquiring Young.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Does Rogers know that Blalock is no longer a 3B?
If he doesn’t, he needs to do a serious amount of homework before writing his next column.

Rogers and Sullivan are as bad as it gets
You’d expect better baseball reporters for the Hooterville Times.
Young
The biggest reason to avoid Young is that he has the range of a 2×4 pounded into the infield dirt. He would be better off a 3rd.
