Guess Pie's stats contest
Alright, I know there will be no real prize, but we finally get to see what kind of numbers Felix can put up in alot of playing time. So I challenge all of the very knowledgable Cubs fans to predict his stats for the coming season. I am not a numbers person so there is about 25% chance that ill be within 50% of his acutal stats. And if you dont like this idea, please dont bash just read somthing else. Thanks.

I have trouble seeing him steal so few bases
Assuming he gets the playing time to amass 18 HR and has a .373 OBP.

Kchance's stats...
look a lot like what they got out of Adam Jones last year.
I’ll go a bit lower:

Orioles take same approach the Bears do. Converting a half back to a corner (Azumah) and a defensive back to a wide receiver (Hester) Oriotes convert him to a pitcher.

Add this question to the board -
who will have a better 2009 – Felix Pie or Kosuke Fukudome?
The author of this post is not a certified scout, doctor, agent, statistician, manager, or journalist, nor was he ever a very good player, though he tried very hard to be like Ryne Sandberg and was about as scrappy as it gets (in T-ball). Any opinion expressed above should in no way be confused with fact, truth, or reality and is hereby qualified in the following ways: 1) The author does not know as much about baseball as Lou Piniella. 2) The author does not know as much about baseball as Jim Hendry. 3) The author does not know as much about baseball as either Dusty or Darren Baker.

Fukudome
The line up around him, and not facing BOS/NYY alone SHOULD allow him to be better than Pie.

Whoa, it's really weird you posted this.
I just went out to get lunch and found myself pondering the exact same question on the way back.
I gotta go with Fukudome. Pie just moved to a more competitive division in a more competitive league, and this is the first time in his professional career he’ll be playing for a baseball organization other than the Chicago Cubs. Plus, he’ll be playing left field instead of center. He’s going to have to make a ton of adjustments.
Meanwhile, Kosuke should improve now that he knows what he’s gotten himself into in terms of the Cubs organization and fans as well as the rigorous 162-game MLB schedule. Plus, apparently Dome has been working with a hitting coach. Finally, by platooning Kosuke in center with RJ, Lou should be able to put Kosuke in optimal hitting situations.
Still, this will be an interesting comparison to monitor throughout the year.

but it will depend on where he is batting in the line up, since many SBs might be lost to bad hitting behind him in the line up

He will last till bout midseason slowly losing playing time till finally he gets sent down and never sees the majors again………that’s a bit too much but he won’t be able to succeed at the major league level.
Believe me when I say I love Pie but i just don’t see him ever really amounting anything close to his once enormous potential.

I don't see much coming...
from Pie immediately. I’d say he only gets 60-70 starts and bats around .250. Down the road though, I do see him becoming a solid regular, playing a GG caliber CF and hitting about .270/15-20 HRS/30 SBs.

He still has a tendency to strike out a lot and his patience will not improve until he gains some confidence in himself. That wont happen until he earns a manager’s trust enough to start more than against right-handers. That strikeout tendency will severely cripple his on-base percentage. I’ve always said batting average is a dying stat. Felix will prove it.
