The Cubs' WBC Spring Training Opponent Will Be...

... one of the four teams that is in "Pool A", the four-team group that plays its first round in Tokyo. That'd be either Japan, China, Chinese Taipei (the name Taiwan goes by in international sports competition) or Korea; two of those four will come to the USA for round two in San Diego beginning March 14, and one of those will be the Cubs' opponent on March 12 in Mesa.

Provisional 45-man rosters for each WBC team are scheduled to be announced today at 5 pm CST.

I’ve got to point this out. Taiwan is still Taiwan. It isn’t the former Taiwan. It’s only Chinese Taipei in international sports because China wouldn’t allow for Taiwan to compete as Taiwan (but they were fine with Chinese Taipei).

You're right.

I’ll fix the post.

So lemme be the first to ask.

If the Cubs play Japan, would Dome have to play for both teams?

LOL

He’d play for Japan.

Damn

I’m arriving in Mesa the night of the 12th. I would like to have seen this game just because.

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

Cubs on WBC Rosters

There are several on the rosters which I was typing here, but I realized that it’s long and would make a better fanpost.

do WBC teams use the DH

or do they play real baseball? also, is it the smaller diameter baseball that the Nippon league uses, or MLB materials?

if anyone is interested....

wbc rules

pretty crazy, understandable to a point though. I still don’t see the point of the DH.
