Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Friday Name That Cub

I'm lazy today, and it's still sort of a holiday weekend, so here's an old-time Cub for you to identify. Obviously, he's not a pitcher. But that's the only clue you get. Thanks to BCB reader cubswgnrocks for the photo.

I'm in glorious black & white!

never a Cub, but worth a (cheap) shot.

DINGDINGDING!

We have a winner.

I was hoping this would take more than an hour.

I can't believe I even knew that!

It’s amazing how much arcane Cubs knowledge I have stored in my brain!

No fair!

This is not a Cubs uniform. I was looking at the early 1920’s team for a player which is the last time the Cubs used two tone hats.

The Phils used the two tone until the late 20’s and the logo on the sleeve does look like the “P” on the sleeve.

I would guess Jamie Moyer...

…but I don’t think cameras had been invented yet back when he was with the Cubs. Well, and also it’s not a pitcher.

Art Garfunkel?

Yes, yes ... winter is indeed a pond upon which all of us must skate, braving frostbite and runny noses in the hopes that our cars will start and we shan't embarass ourselves slipping on a patch of black ice. Spring is more a quagmire of cold mud and slush, and fall is a pile of fallen leaves that may or may not hide a pile of doggy doo-doo. But summer, ah summer is an oasis of endless green that disappears all too quickly beneath our feet as we rush through its warm, glorious bliss.
