WCG Needs You!

Are you as big of a Chicago Bears fan as you are Chicago Cubs fan?  Ok, around here maybe that may be impossible.

Are you almost as big of a Chicago Bears fan as you are a Chicago Cubs fan?  Then guess what?  Windy City Gridiron Needs You!

Windy City Gridiron is looking for Front Page contributors.  We have immediate openings for the following, but not limited to areas:

1) Xs and Os - Film breakdown, scheme/formation explanation, game analysis

2) Financial - Do you actually understand the salary cap?

3) Legal - contract issues, off the field player issues

4) HTML/Graphics - Photoshop, coding, charts

5) History - position/player comparisons, best ofs, lists, know your history posts

Moreover we have the need for passionate and opinionated people who have a voice they want to be heard.

Requirements:

1) Must have decent writing skills - Trust me, we are not perfect over here, but you need to be able to put together understandable sentences and paragraphs and you need to be able to do so with little use of slang.

2) Ideas - We need new ideas.  We need people who can generate ideas for their posts.

3) Frequency - We can work on the numbers, but we need posters who can generate posts on a consistent basis, even when there is not much happening.

4) Fact checking - If you are going to post facts and figures you must be willing to do the fact checking and provide links and sources if need be.

5) Criticism/Debate - I'm sure you are familiar with this one, but Chicago fans love to get after you about your posts.  You must be able to take criticism in stride.  Arguments/debating is encouraged, but you will be a rep of the site and held to a higher standard.

6) Focus - This is a Bears blog, while at times subjects veer off into other teams we need to keep it mostly Bears/NFL-centric.  You cannot post or get bated into debates about topics like politics, religion and any other current or controversial topics.

7) Involvement - You need to have the time to dedicate to the site.  The readers need to know you.  They need to know how to relate to you and how to take your type of writing.  Not only do you need to be willing to keep an eye on posts you have written, you need to be an active member in other posts, Fan Posts and Fan Shots.

Optional:

1) Location - Believe it or not, we don't live in Chicago.  We need people who have the ability to occasionally go to events or conduct interviews with former and current players and personnel.  Game accounts, pictures, local flavor

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, we'd love to hear from you. Include your name, WCG userid if you have one and a blog URL or sample writingsthat you'd like us to look at..  Don't worry if you don't have a blog or samples, we still want to hear from you.  Send all injuries to WINDYCITYGRIDIRON AT GMAIL DOT COM.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

they don't play with the Ivy anymore

I have held a grudge ever since.

Actually the Bears need one thing as they have but for a few years outside of Sid Luckman, Johnny Lujack, Billy Wade or Jim McMahon and Wade is a push….McMahon was brittle

You can do all the analysis you want but unless the Bears get someone like McNabb its been done before.

Um sorry I am a Packers fan

That plus living in NYC would disqualify me. I think I should start a blog for Cub & Packer fans. All 10 of us. I know there is at least one other one around here.

Um I spent my childhood summers in Door County WI

Hard not to fall for a team owned by people of Green Bay. Trust me they ARE the craziest fans in all of sports. They have NOTHING else in their lives. Try watching local news in the summer. Top story is reserve right tackle spraining his thumb fishing in Canada and then maybe something about war, the economy or anything else. Honestly I don’ t care that much for football but the Pack is the only team I try to watch.

me too but I am a huge football fan

You are prolly right in 10 total. LOL I know one or two on here, but don’t know any in my day to day life.

BTW your totally right about the news.

Count me as a cub/packer fan as well.

I die hard for both teams, although I am a baseball fan more than a football fan.

Such conflict

It’s like I like you and despise you at the same time. But being more of a baseball fan means more liking and less despising! :)
