Bleacher Repair Project? Photo taken from CubsCam this morning shows an area of the right center field bleachers covered with some temporary framework and plastic sheeting. Anyone know what is being done?

Well, if Cuban had bought the Cubs, I'd say this is the start of a new owner's box...

But after checking out the view from the other camera, it appears to be as you suggest – a bleacher repair project.

If this link works, you can see some broken benches scattered around.

Broken?

Just looks like they’ve been removed and placed next to where the repair is being done.

My guess is that they’re replacing concrete. I believe that the tenting w/ some forced air heating is needed to allow concrete to cure properly, something that the extreme cold would prevent.

that makes more sense

yea, I suppose if the benches were broken, they would have been tossed out upon removal instead of just set aside.

Noooo!

Then I’d have to get another new sig!

"[I]f we get a Jumbotron, I can't pull the instant replay thing on all the rookies. Every time there's a good play, we're like, 'Oh, look at the replay,' and you get the rookies to look at the scoreboard." - Ryan Dempster, 2 January 2009

Something leftover...

from the Winter Classic?

"It's hard to win 97 games, it's hard to win the division. Our attitude is if you get in every year, you get in most of the time, sooner or later you are going to knock that door down." -- Jim Hendry

No ....

images from the Winter Classic clearly show fans sitting in the seats now under cover. The concrete repair seems the most likely possibility suggested.

I love a good mystery

Is this the area near the stairs? Maybe they are widening the stairs, it always struck me as a bottleneck.

Yep ...

the cover completely encloses the stairs between sections 312 and 313. Widening the stairs , esp. at the top of the aisle, would be a good idea.

Looks like

they are doing the same thing to some lower box seats on the third base side behind home plate as well.

They are working on the bleacher entrance as well

I heard a jack hammer from inside our apartment and couldn’t see anything I walked by the bleacher entrance and they were doing something to the concrete next to the elevator. Idk why considering it isn’t that old. Probably just on going maintenance to Wrigley in tip top shape.

Someday we'll go all the way.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
