Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

OT - NFL Divisional Round

Who ya like?

Arizona at Carolina -- My upset pick. I think Warner has the mojo working again. Look for Edge James to get going again.

Crimson Pigeons -- 28; Big Tabbies 24

Eagles at Giants -- My NON-upset pick. The Giants will beat them like Sonny Corleone beat Carlo after he found out Carlo slapped Connie around.

Overly Large Humans - 35; Follicle-Challenged Aviaries 14

Ravens at Titans - Speaking of mojo, the Ravens have the 2000 thing happening again.

Obsidian Parakeets 17; Zeus' Daddies 12

San Diego at Pittsburgh -- Another trendy upset pick that will get stomped out by the end of the first half.

Unionized Employees 24; 1.21 Gigawatts; 17

That makes my championship games: Arizona at Giants and Ravens at Steelers.

Super Bowl XLIII -- Giants 33; Ravens 21

I can't see Arizona beating Carolina..

Anquan Boldin may not be anywhere near healthy enough to make an impact (let alone play in the first place).

I think that Delhomme and Co. will have Arizona’s number.

Now, if Edgerrin James can have another solid game and the Arizona defense (WHAT? DEFENSE?) can play like they did against Matt Ryan and Michael Turner, I think that Jake Delhomme and DeAngelo Williams will have a rough game.

I dont see that happening…. Baltimore 24, Arizona 10

The Carolina run defense

Is actually not too good. Plus, I think Carolina is warm-weather enough to where the AZ passing game won’t be totally screwed.

The worst beer I had was pretty good.

We shall see....

The game might come down to the running game….

In the previous game this season when Carolina beat Arizona, Arizona only had 50 yards on the ground as a team. 30 of those yards, were on a reverse by Boldin.

If Arizona can establish a solid running attack we may be looking at a very close game.

Regardless I still say Carolina still has the slight edge as a more experienced team.

I won’t take anything away from Kurt.

The Cardinals are a miserable road team.

Warner gets knocked around, has no time, disaster.

Panthers, Eagles, Steelers, Titans

Eagles over Panthers, Steelers over Titans in the conferences.

Steelers over the Eagles in the all-PA SB.

Disclaimer: I haven’t won a NFL playoff office pool in 17 seasons.

I'll go with

Should be excellent games this weekend. Early guesses

Titans beating the Ravens – At the end of the day, these are two fairly similar teams. The Titans DL depth is underrated and if KVB and Haynesworth are healthy, they’ll be able to bottle up the run and pressure from the base 4, allowing Schwartz a lot more flexibility. As big a fan as I am of Joe Flacco, I’d rather bet on Kerry Collins in this game.

Chargers beat the Steelers – The Steelers OL is a sieve. The Chargers D is stepping up at the right time. They’ll cause havoc in the backfield. I think the Steelers D will bottle up the Chargers O as well, so I’m expecting a low scoring affair. First team to 10? J/k … well maybe not?

Eagles beat the Giants – No Plax means that the Eagles will bump and run those Giants WR’s all game long, allowing Jim Johnson to attack like crazy. I think Eli will make a mistake or two in the process. On the other side, the emergence of Buckhalter could be big in this game, helping to blunt the pass rush of the Giants.

Cardinals over Panthers – I’m leaning this way as of right now as well. A healthier Edge should help, along with Hightower. The Panthers run D wasn’t all that great, and if Warner can have a run game, they’ll be able to pick apart an inconsistent defense in Carolina. On the other side of the ball, can Clancy’s boy step up and shut down the run game enough? If Delhomme is attempting less than 20 passes, that likely points to a Panthers win, controlling the clock and pounding the ball, allowing Jake to pick and choose. Short of it is, first team to establish the run may control this game.

Early Super Bowl Guess: Titans over the Eagles.

Yep...

Pretty excited for the weekend games…but I am loving this MLB network.

Panthers over Cards
Eagles over Giants
Ravens over Titans
Steelers over Chargers

…and I like the Steelers/Panthers for the SB…Steelers winning.

Meh...

All MLB Network is doing me is reminding me how dull the World Series was.

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
