Milton Bradley To Sign Today; Press Conference At 3:30 CT
Use this post for comments on Bradley's news conference. I don't have details, but I presume it will be carried on CSN Chicago -- and this is the perfect kind of off-season event that you'd hope the MLB Network would carry live, also.

Do you know for sure that it will be on WGN?
Or are you just guessing?
I'm guessing
but since they’re the flagship, they’ve carried the press conferences live in the past.
Guess we’ll find out in an hour.

Brilliant.
I should be getting home right about 3:30 and hope you’re right about MLBN showing it. If not perhaps WGNA or ESPN will have it.

Does anyone know..
if contract details will be announced/publicized today at the press conference or will those come out later?
I just checked Cot's.
Nothing about details on there yet.
Evey Hammond: Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici. V: By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.
Those are generalities.
The details we want are options, conditional clauses, payment distribution, etc.
Oh. Right
It did go on to say that there were incentives for games played, which I think is huge for this character.
character?
Aren’t his games played more a reflection of injury? You may also be interested to find out that last season he came back from a knee injury twice as fast as doctors had projected. The guy has had a reputation as being a hard worker.

He's calling him a character, not saying that the contract was designed primarily to reflect his character.
Just because you are a character doesn’t mean you have character.

Thank you, boys.

I am sick and tied of
All these jabs at Bradley and his health….. Hendry is not stupid he’s familiar with Bradley’s injury history but he knows he’s a dynamite hitter that the Cubs desperately needed from the left side.
Hendry's intelligence...
Has nothing to do with Bradley’s tendency to land on the DL… a lot.

put me in the undecided camp
But the Bradley signing was bound to be controversial — given his past. Hell, just about any signing the Cubs have made in recent years — Marquis, DeRosa, Soriano, Lilly, etc. — have drawn a good deal of criticism.
The only one I can think of that didn’t was re-signing Ramirez.

…but all we have to go off of is GameBoard’s history. And he’s played more than 100 games 3/9 seasons, and more than 141 games 1/9 seasons. I can’t ignore that.

But how about Harden's

ah, back on MLB.com
they’re talking about Dome. They want him to bat better. They feel good about the outfield. MB, “Fuke”, Johnson, all can play all three positions.

i’m a little disappointed at how east coast-centric the MLBN has been thus far. So far everything they talk about is in relation to the Yankees or the Red Sox. Also, I used to really like Harold Reynolds, but this is beginning to be overkill. They should change the name of the channel to HRN.

… but basically very diplomatically Bernstein asked about him working with Lou, saying that Lou can be a very gruff guy and at times, that can be perceived as disrespectful…. said that Milton is someone who has had a history of having problems when he feels that he is not being respected.
Milton said that he felt that the question was disrespectful, that it was dealing with perceptions…
Milton does seem to be hair-triggered
when it comes to his “past.” I think the second question in the press conference was about some of his past incidents and his response was basically ,“it’s in the past.”
He also brought up how he refuses to judge a person until he knows them and how he saw some of the headlines/stories that may or may not have been judging him.
Until he feels comfortable with the media in Chicago, I think there will be a lot of responses like this. I just hope it doesn’t get blown out of proportion.

Congrats dude.
You’re officially here too much!
FWIW, I’m at five to six thousand somewhere….

heh, well this board has helped with my transformation as a fan
I started posting on the Cubs.com board in 05 into 06. Its an angry board. 2007 on this board helped. I learned not to get angry at every single loss or every miraculous Ryan Braun HR! (hah, if some of you were here then, I think you might of known me as the dude who always said he’s gotta be on roids). Let’s just say, I’m a much better, calmer poster..
Erm, well if we are going to call Milton Bradley nicknames, mine is Fischer Price: yes, you heard it here first..

workout routine
MB says he has lost 10-15 pounds and began a new workout routine this off season so that he can avoid injury. He said he wanted to try something different because he didn’t feel that what he did in the past was good enough.

great interview on CSN
I wasn’t one of the fans against Bradley in the first place, but I look forward to watching him play even more now. Great attitude

I thought the most interesting thing that Bradley said
at the conference was that he used to think everyone was against him. He said he has come to realize that isn’t true.
I think that is great insight into some of the very public incidents he was involved in the past. It will be very interesting to see how he reacts to playing in such an intense atmosphere.
I kind of wonder if he just might thrive in the crazy Wrigley atmosphere since he seems to be such an ultra competitive person. One thing I know for certain, Milton Bradley will never be described as dull or boring.
Hey, it's a new century!
