Joe Mauer obviously tipping pitches
Total Pro Sports posted this video of the Twins vs. Tigers game which shows Joe Mauer clearly tipping pitches to the batter from second base.
The question, is Joe Mauer's action cheating? I don't think so.

Joe Mauer is the second coming of Jesus Christ.
There is nothing he can do wrong.
This is completely legal. The Tigers are idiots for not changing their signs.

You have this wrong.
Clearly, Joe Mauer is the second coming, and baseball’s version of Ric Flair.

If we ever have a man on second
and he isn’t at least trying to figure out the signs, I want him released.
Now, different hitters might not want the signs, because it throws them off, but I want our men on second at least looking for them.
This is no different than studying a pitcher to see if he is tipping pitches.
And spare me the “right way” bullshit.
You know how you know if you played the game the right way?
You look up at the scoreboard. If the number next to your team is bigger than the number next to the other team’s, you played the right way.

We should join forces and start a comic book team!

This is just smart baseball.
Joe Mauer is a really smart player and good players have been doing this for decades. It’s not cheating, it’s gamesmanship.
What surprises me is that Laird never went to the mound to change signs with Verlander after it was pretty obvious what was going on.

Brenely has talked about this a few times this season
How the Cubs never change their signs with a runner at second and that he doesn’t understand why.
Mauer will enjoy a ball in the ribs early next season and this will all be over.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

and the Twins pitcher
should put one in the eye socket of the opposing team.
How about changing your signs before you throw a bean ball?

There's nothing wrong with tipping pitches for your teammates
It’s a different story when you’re doing it for the opposing team to pad your stats. Of course, for a certain individual, this was never proven.

Twins are, of course, vehemently denying it

One of the comments
was basically, the catcher put down 2 fingers for a curve and Verlander threw a changeup. If it’s anything like what infielders do to let each other know who is covering second with a man on first, I believe it’s simply fastball or off speed. Mauer would most likely have one signal (tugging on his earflap) for off speed and touching his face for fastball to keep it simple. That’s my 2 cents. I think they tried to dismiss it but they really didn’t.
I like it that he’s trying to gain an advantage legally. What’s the different when a pitcher tips his pitches like Dempster said he was doing, hence the little glove flap/wiggle he does before every delivery? It’s all part of the game.

Now, a guy in the scoreboard with binoculars....
….THAT would be, uh, cheating…..not that any team we all like would ever do that. Ever.
But seriously, this is just good assertive play, and there are several ways for the opposing team to prevent it. Change signs, or, heck, don’t give up doubles!
