Pretty good article.
He sounds fairly down to earth about his ’09 season. And his remarks about wanting to be a starter reinforce my belief that the Cubs should let him go to free agency so he can pursue that dream.

Agree.
Although he did show signs of being a good towards the end of the season.
I like our young guys (Berg, Caridad, etc…) better.

even if they're just as good as Heilman on the field
… they’re a heckuva lot cheaper.

I will reflect on 2009 and look forward to 2010!!
Heilman was awful on 2009 and looking forward to 2010 I hope he’s not a Cub at all cost!
I would sleep with Blou if it meant the Cubs would win a WS. by Doggie Stalker on Aug 22, 2009 4:11 PM EDT

3 million is a lot for mediocre
And, I don’t think there is room in the rotation for him. I saw some good things in Berg and Caridad, I wouldn’t mind going cheap in this slot. Worst case scenario and the Cubs are in the playoff hunt next summer you bolster your bullpen short term. Use Heilman’s salary to better ends.
