No way that is happening...
I’m only talking about the hitting coach here.
I don’t want to just come out and spoil the surprise, but can you imagine the negative media attention (and rumors!) the first time THAT GUY is photographed talking to Pujols?
That alone, to me… proves this is not true.

What's he going to tell them?
“I’m not here to talk about the past……………….let’s just focus on going forward” You are dropping your shoulder………………………….
This is going to force him to comment- he’s been like a hermit. Think it’s a show to get him back in the game and boost his HOF chances?
GO HAWKS!!!!!!! Iowa State week...............please, God- don't let it happen again!

It might be.
But you’re right, it will force him to talk, and will create a circus where none exists.
Good. Couldn’t happen to a nicer team.

They'll PR-speak their way through it
Look at A-Rod. He lied about taking roids, then lied about when he took them. He was a jerk throughout. He got trained by PR people how to give non-answers and now he’s just loving baseball all the time. Ask him anything – blah, blah, baseball, blah, blah.
McGwire will have 2 or 3 canned answers for anything that goes near any topic that’s dangerous and that’ll be it.
As was said above though, it’ll be interesting to see the photos of him and Pujols side by side.

IIRC Didn't Holliday work with McGwire last offseason?
and wasn’t it after he stopped listening to McGwire that he started to hit again? Not that one guy not liking what you have to say means anything, but idk how good a hitting coach McGwire is.
Also the Cardinals are going to get ripped in every city they go to twice as much now bc McGwire is just an easy target for cheap shots.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

Awesome. I don’t care, I love McGwire.

Huh?
How in tarnations is Mark McGwire qualified to serve as a hitting coach?!? This is a man who was roided up from day one and who stood on top of the plate and muscled it over the fence as his total hitting approach.
This can’t be right. This is like saying Dave Kingman is qualified to teach the nuances of hitting.

Holliday Factor
If you remember earlier this year McGwire was sort of a hitting instructor for Holliday and a few other Cardinals this past off season. I wonder if this is also a ploy to keep Holliday in house as well as keeping Larussa happy.

I would think Holliday is coming back
I’m sure LaRussa received assurances from Mozeliak that the Cardinals will do everything to bring Holliday back. They would seem to have a lot of payroll flexibility if they finally chose to spend money this offseason. I think if St. Louis wasn’t serious about bringing Holliday back then LaRussa wouldn’t have re-signed.

Just think, the Cubs could've signed Sosa
for a few hundred thousand less.

Can you friggin picture this? The implications for roided-out McGwire helping Pujols fascinates me. For a guy that’s got the best pure swing (along with Griffey, Mauer, and Gwynn) I’ve ever seen, this could really do some damage to Albert, not to mention the press conference questions that are gonna be all about Mark. This is definitely the subplot of the 2010 season.

I'm still mad at ESPN
for opting to have “manny getting doused with champagne” as image of the week, instead of “Holliday gets hit in the midsection with fly ball” as Image of the Week nominee.
That shot was image of the Month, with a fluke soccer goal involving a beachball the only one close.

And now a statement from the man himself, via Twitter:
@TonyLaRussa: Officially back and excited to put Mark back to work
