Proof again that it's a meaningless position
But hey, the Cubs just paid big money for a new one so that must mean it’s important. Not my money, so who cares, right?

I would sleep with Blou if it meant the Cubs would win a WS. by Doggie Stalker on Aug 22, 2009 4:11 PM EDT

Next year
the entire Cardinals team will be extremely muscular, with bad acne and anger issues.

All this is going to do...
…. is create a circus at spring training. Can you imagine the questions?

Selig asleep at the switch again
What’s next? Cubs hire Sosa as a roving baserunning instructor?

What does Selig have to do with this?
The Cardinals can hire whoever they please.

Not if he says he doesn't want a scumbag steroid cheat in the game
I guess we see how serious the Cardinals are. But LaRussa has always been the one guy on the planet who thought McGwire just ate vitamins.

He can't keep them out even if he wanted
and its not like they aren’t around – witness A-Rod. I always took LaRussa’s comical answers as saying he’s not against steroids.

How many times will we hear:

Don't worry
The St. Louis media won’t ask more than once, they will be slobbering all over him no matter what.
Also McGwire’s four pupils from last offseason- Bobby Crosby, Matt holliday, Skip Schumaker, and Chris Duncan. The reason Holliday came out of his early season slump? He stopped listening to McGwire’s advice.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

Honestly
“McGwire to serve as LaRussa’s Hitting Coach” sounds like a headline from the Onion on a slow week.

LaRussa...
…has built up a lot of equity to do as he pleases, and this is a sign that he is getting something that he wants.
LaRussa is a very loyal guy to people he feels were loyal to him, and he has always defended McGwire to no end. This is LaRussa’s way of giving someone an opportunity he feels has been earned through loyalty.
