Our Long National Nightmare is finally over (Ricketts now official!)
No link, but on WGN radio...on the 9:00 news it was announced that the sale of the Cubs to the Ricketts family has finally been finalized and the family now has officially taken control of the team. There will be a press conference by TOm Ricketts on Friday at Wrigley Field to officially introduce themselves. More details will follow, but I just wanted to post that the Cubs finally officially have new owners.

Was just about to post this. More to follow. Tom Ricketts is CEO.
As someone who doesn’t follow the parotted tribune is evil philosophy this is still exciting.
Tom Ricketts is a good man but don’t expect miracles overnight.
Thank you to all who have offered prayers when I made mention. My nephew Nathan Allan Cubtoseriesby100 was born on Thursday and at his size starts on the O line fot the Bears; 9 lbs 10 ounces and 22 inches!

Gee. I thought my bid of $844 Million would be high enough...
Damn it!
Seriously, this is good news. At least this issue won’t be hanging over everything like it has the last 2 years.

Sidenote to kaseyi, Al and Matthew Silverman (if you're out there):
I’m FINALLY getting around to reading Cubs By the Numbers and really enjoying it. The book provides a great overview of Cubs players down through the (numbered) ages and has a fun-to-read tone/style.

It doesn't
I was actually kinda upset, because I really need time off from the stress this team brought me this year.

No Tribune. No Zell (as caretaker).
The corporate era is over.
Now we can work on catching the Yankees in WS appearance (and rings).
Think big.

I really don't think anyone could do it unless the Yankees went out of business
Even as you win more World Series titles, the Yankees could always win one or two more and still be ahead of you. The modern playoff structure actually prevents runs like the Yankees had back in the days before the divisional era. The three straight titles from 1998-2000 plus the title in 1996 just shows you they were so dominant that not even the playoff structure could stop their dominance.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Let's focus on winning ONE first.
Then worry about the Yankees. Think big, definitely. However, as Phil Jackson always liked to say, “A journey begins with a single step.” Let’s win the World Series in 2010 and go from there.
