This is a really cool thing to do. (Not to mention convenient.)

I'm 15 minutes away from the Trenton NJ
train station. Only a 1 hour 10 minute trip to Penn Station on NJ Transit. 35 minutes on Amtrak.
A lot of people live where I do and take the train every day up to Penn Station to work in Manhattan.
Very retro,
not to mention practical!
Hey, it's a new century!

Did they take the "A" train?
No, that would have been Anaheim silly…

Obviously Sparky was never a Cubs fan...
I was thinking about this as the game ended on Sunday
Of course, I figured that MLB would never consider it, because — after all — the players might have to actually bump into real people.

Sure they had to bump into real people...
… once they got off the train into Penn Station.

Trust me they met lots of people just getting on the old escalator
The escalotors at Penn are old and very narrow and would be cover at least two tracks. My least favorite part of train travel in New York out of Penn.

Had I known they were coming
I would have gone to Penn Station to cheer them on. Absolutely the easiest and best way to get to NYC from Philly. Will be interesting to see how the Yankees plan on going.

TRAVELING BY RAIL........
Nice story about the Phillies something positive . We take the Amtrak to Chicago whenever possible . No traffic to fight and parking fees to pay . Rail travel seems to be picking up in the midwest .
That would be great
Rail is easily my favorite form of transportation for short to medium distances (4 hours or less) . . . no security, very few delays (compared to air), generally more space, sometimes cheaper. If only more people used it so they could afford to have more travel times to most locations.
That's one reason I like driving on road trips.
Flying these days… something I’d rather stay away from.

I'm in a line of work that puts me on the road about 80% of the time
For most people at my company, that means weekly roundtrips via air. I’ve been lucky enough to do a 2-year commute from Chicago to central Wisconsin (4 hours via car) and now I’m doing NY to Hartford (3 hours via rail) with only about a year of weekly flights.
Some people like racking up the status and points on the airlines, but I’d much rather have the quality of life from not wasting hours at terminals with security lines, delays, and whatnot.
All in all, very cool that the Phillies took the train. Wonder if the Yanks will “stoop” to that when they make the trip to Philly.
If they don't...
… they’ll probably bus it, because flying would be silly — it’d be like flying from Chicago to Milwaukee. You’d waste more time in the airport and getting to your hotel than you would on a bus.
