stupid

what does he think is going to happen when he makes a comment like that

by Aramis Ramirez on Oct 27, 2009 8:37 PM CDT reply actions

It was a stupid comment.......But

Political correctness has gone crazy, my goodness people, can you take a joke. Its not like he said “Lazy Wetback”. Now that should get him fired.

I would sleep with Blou if it meant the Cubs would win a WS. by Doggie Stalker on Aug 22, 2009 4:11 PM EDT

Political correctness run amuk

Bob Griese said something unintentional that he later apologized completely for. But c’mon….was what he said really all that offensive to get everybody up in arms over. My goodness. It was a funny/harmless/stupid comment all rolled into one that Griese instantly regretted and apologized for.

Get over it people.

Well a one game suspension is more or less a slap on the wrist.

I have a serious question though. The comment was at best odd because Montoya is from Columbia where the popular food is an arepa not a taco. This is not a minor point because in my mind it actually makes the his comment offensive as in
everyone south of the US eats tacos and everyone with a hispanic name must go out for tacos. I don’t even know if they even eat tacos in Columbia. I am sure others will disagree but I think this was a much more insulting and racist comment than would first appear.

definately insulting

It was a stupid comment and likely offensive to many. But some people love using the “political correctness” card as a get out of jail free card. Stupid comment, not worthy of a firing, but certainly the punishment he received. People should be able to expect to watch a sporting event without hearing a culturally insensitive comment.

good point

You won’t last long in the service industry if you don’t like people, or are insensitive to what might offend people. This goes directly to his job performance.

Tacos are not eaten in Colombia (with two O's)

except as a foreign food much as we eat Chinese food. If Griese knows this fact then I agree it IS insulting. I agree with dmlichte below also.

I like chocolate bars and chocolate cake

The two should not mix. Cake is SOFT chocolate.

They are so thin you call them soft but the are just thin pieces of regular chocolate.

I want soft cake, gooey frosting and as in this case some soft creamy middle is fine too but no on the shavings.
