I hope that they can work out a package

I love Arizona spring training in every way. I don’t want to go to Florida.

Agreed.

There’s no way Florida can compete, in any possible way.

I think Arizona will match any Florida offer.

well isn't matching offers the very definition of competing?

I suppose.

Look - when the ink finally dries at the bottom of that blood-stained contract...

…I fully expect there to be an Arizona zip code on it somewhere. I just think that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Florida can do to Arizona what Arizona has done to Florida.

Of course, that’s assuming – and that’s a huge assumption – Florida gets their act together at the state, local and private enterprise levels like Arizona did. But if they do, then I think they deserve a chance to make an offer and be seriously considered.

Mesa pulling out all stops

I don’t know how to link …. But in the Arizona Republic News Paper … Front page news … in todays paper .. Big article about Mesa and the Cubs .

Mesa could get more out of the Cubs, too

Arizona vs. Florida is no contest for me. However, the one thing that some other Arizona-based clubs have is better entertainment in the surrounding area.

The Giants’ stadium in Scottsdale is walking distance to some nice restaurants and bars. The Cubs facility in Mesa has no such amenities nearby. In fact, when I am there, we spend all of our restaurant/bar time in Tempe or Scottsdale. Downtown Mesa — well, I could never find anything that seemed like the most rudimentary downtown. They should try to put a facility someplace where bars/restaurants/hotels could be mixed in and thrive, too. It could be a bigger win for everybody if the whole area was a “destination” rather than just a place to see a game and exit.

AGREE ON MESA.....

Downtown Mesa does not have much else to do . After the games our group does the same thing . Hohokam’s plus is easy in and out for parking . We also run into alot of other Cub fans in Scottsdale/Tempe . The fans would stay more in Mesa with something else to do,,,,,

vonde6 I agree BUT

Mesa is older where the Cubs are now . A lot of vacant land on the east side of Mesa . Next time your in town for spring training maybe check out Westgate .. It’s on the same property that has Jobing .com arena and University of Phoenix where the Cardinals play .. It has movie theatres , bars , restaurants , sport shops , really lite up at night .. I recommend it .. also town of Cave Creek , just north of Scottsdale , 10 minutes north … on cave creek road ,, there are a lot of bars and restaurants .. not chain restaurants .. kind of an artsy town ..

Thanks for the tips!

I have gone to spring training five or six times since 1999, and I am always looking for someplace new and interesting.
