Slightly OT: Congrats Kerry Wood

With the season ending tomorrow, I think it's worthy of congratulating one of the Cubs most popular players in the last 10-20 years. Kerry Wood officially went an entire season injury free with no stints on DL. While he is no longer a Cub, I think the sentiment is the same that we all want him to be the best he can and as dominant as possible. Maybe one day, he does return to the team. While he started off pretty poorly this season, Wood managed to have a decent August and September. Hopefully he'll have a solid 2010!

What about 2010?

What about

Cleveland wants to get rid of his salary how about we try and get him back for Bradley and throw in a prospect or two? It’s an even salary match isn’t it?

Thank you to all who have offered prayers when I made mention. My nephew Nathan Allan Cubtoseriesby100 was born on Thursday and at his size starts on the O line fot the Bears; 9 lbs 10 ounces and 22 inches!

Even salary, yes.

Even personality, no. You don’t trade a prince for a court jester just because they are making the same amount of money.

Injuries

He’s been arm injury free for 2 plus years. DL time was last year.

On a side note while the Indians suck I have a friend who does a lot of work with the Indians on community things. He is as good to Cleveland as he was to Chicago.

And what would we use him for?

We have a closer and I don’t think he can start again. Even for a Bradley salary dump. that’s a lot of money.

You're missing the point.

Congrats to Kerry, as suggested in the original post. On or off the Cubs roster, wish him well for 2010 and beyond.

Agreed.

He was always a class act. He didn’t have a great year performance wise, but at 32 is still young enough that he might resurrect his career, wherever he may wind up (I assume the Indians will try to move his contract).

That wasn't the point of my post

Wood will always be a Cub in my eye and I just want to see him succeed and be healthy. He was on the DL last year for a blister but it was still a DL stint. He made it an entire season injury free and that’s the biggest accomplishment he could ask for right now.

Just a guess, but I think Robb's comment was meant as a reply to ctsb100

Bring him back...

Get it done, Jim!!

It’s mostly sentimental, he’ll always be my favorite player.

I don't know if bringing him back is a good idea

even though I would love to see him back in the Cub pinstripes. He was my favorite Cub and since he left I still don’t have one. Don’t get me wrong, Lee, Aram and others are good candidates, but he has been my favorite since day one.

Nice post ak123. Kerry has always been a class guy.

I like Kerry, but

bringing him back would be ENTIRELY sentinmental. We’ve got enough of that.

In this case, I agree with you.

I wish Kerry well, but his time as a Cub, unfortunately, is done.
