Cubs aiming to host the 2014 All-Star Game
Details in the article. Cubs want the 2014 All-Star game at Wrigley. Interesting point was that the article mentioned that by 2014 the team expects to have spent $200-300M on Wrigley renovations.

Nice.
Let’s make that happen.

How much have scalped All Star tickets gone for in the previous years?

The only problem..
I see with this plan is that MLB alternates All-Star sites between AL and NL teams.
2009 – St. Louis
2010 – Anaheim
2011 – Arizona
2012 – Unknown (though I might presume Boston for Fenway’s 100th much the same reason the Cubs want Wrigley in ’14)
2013 – NL Team
2014 – AL Team

Also...
should add that with the Twins, Mets, and Marlins opening new stadiums they’ll be lobbying hard as well.

Tampa Bay also.

They haven't always alternated...
… NL teams hosted in 2006 (Pittsburgh) and 2007 (San Francisco).
They might be willing to make another exception for Wrigley’s 100th birthday.

The Royals have been thought to have 2014.

I meant 2012.
“The K” just had $250,000,000 thrown into it; I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be the 2012 option, it is gorgeous.

Then an AL team could have 2013....
… disrupting the AL/NL alternation for one year, the Cubs get 2014, then they go back to alternating.

This is the best I could find, from mid-July, with sources saying there would be a Selig announcement any day/week. I remember the radio down here blowing up because it was rumored he was to pull-out of his KC commitment because he blamed us for high-draft pick contracts, which is ridiculous. I think they’d want 2012 and not 2013 simply because Greinke is signed through 2012.

Boston just had the ASG about ten years ago.
I doubt they would get it again so soon, although a ballpark’s 100th anniversary might be reason enough to move them to the front of the line.
