BCB Fantasy baseball Update / Neifi Puppy Rules
I'm sure there are at least a dozen or so BCB Fantasy baseball leagues out there. But I figure I need to toot my own horn do to this rare accomplishment.
I entered 3 different fantasy baseball leagues this year, and won all 3.
Here is the keeper rotisserie league (which I finished in dead last the previous year)
http://games.espn.go.com/flb/leagueoffice?leagueId=11076&seasonId=2009
Here is the normal rotisserie league that had a full live draft of all players
http://games.espn.go.com/flb/leagueoffice?leagueId=18422
And here is the head-to-head league.

While winning one league is sometimes easy, winning 3 different leagues of varying formats is what prompted me to go off on this ego trip.
I only had one player that was on all three teams, the Dodgers Matt Kemp.
Now, for some reason I don't understand, the wife says I need to "get a life."

Paging Carmen Fanzone...
Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

This year fantasy baseball taught me this...
If you tie with someone, your team ERA is the tie breaker… so stupid.

Yeah
I saw that in yahoo. I won my yahoo league just barely and thought it might come to the ERA. Why is that more important than say HRs? Or technical balks for that matter. By the way Neifi, good job in the ESPN league. I was in that one with you. Even though my team in that league sucked I stuck with it to the end.

I was the beneficiary of that rule this year.
But yes, I agree, it’s weird.

In the one I commished...
I got beaten to a pulp. I did beat the great Al Yellon for 3rd place in one though even though he rarely checks his team!
I would sleep with Blou if it meant the Cubs would win a WS. by Doggie Stalker on Aug 22, 2009 4:11 PM EDT

Bears every week ?

Speaking as someone who came from way back in the standings...
..and went back-n-forth with you for the lead this last month before finishing only two points behind, I was all set to pay my respects and offer you congratulations on a well-deserved victory. But after reading this post, all I can say is…
Neifi, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do. I don’t want to see you at Wrigley Field, I don’t want you near my corner. When you post on BCB, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be logged in. You understand?

Wow!
I finished fourth in the ESPN league, not bad considering I got real busy and paid almost no attention to it after August.
How I managed to get to 2nd seed in the Yahoo league, I have no idea. But cubsluver is correct, he beat me in a semifinal.
In the one non-BCB league I played in this year, I finished 12th. Out of 12. And it wasn’t close. Oh, well.

you seemed to beat me all the time
but i got you pretty good in the playoffs. didn’t do so well in the final round, but being 6th seed, a 2nd place finish isn’t so bad.

Yeah, I know....I'm a jerk
and I have no reason to be such an egotistical ass. Sorry if I offended you. In all fairness I did get extremely lucky in that league. You’re the better man, ballhawk.

No offense taken. In addition to a sarcasm font, I think we need a Godfather font here...
That quote – slightly paraphrased – is from Godfather II where Michael lays it on the line to Fredo. Sorry – I probably should have made it clearer that I was kidding…
I wouldn’t say you got extremely lucky. Maybe a little lucky but it wasn’t luck that enabled you to build up such a huge lead. I should have known I was doomed when I lost Jose Reyes to injury so early in the season. I was happy just getting to 2nd place but with a couple weeks left, I gambled that I could win the SB category when I should have retooled and gone for another point in HRs.
Oh well, serves me right for drafting Milton Bradley… ;-)

Whew! I guess I need to brush up on the Godfather movies again...
I take it this means I won’t wake up with a horse’s head next to me? If it does, I’ll let you win next year, I promise! :)
But I did get lucky that someone dropped Derrek Lee early in year just before he started doing well. I managed to pick him up before anyone else. Also, mid-way through the season I had Tulowitski and JJ Hardy, who were both doing terrible at the time….I almost dropped Tulo for Hardy….glad I chose to keep Tulo instead.
