Starlin Castro ranked 6th and Josh Vitters ranked 14th. Both seem fair. I was a bit surprised Vitters ranked that high, I guess, but it's an upside nod, which BA has a tendency to follow.

Castro!

I’m getting pretty excited about him as a future shortstop for us. The AFL should show us even more.
Vitters being ranked is really surprising to me since the FSL ate him alive.

Also did Cashner. Carpenter, Jackson qualify?

Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

no

chat comments indicated that Cashner would’ve ranked high, with Jackson/Carpenter also getting into the top 20.

What was surprising was the Southern League rankings. Cashner qualified, but he missed the list, and Jay Jackson ranked 11th in a LOADED Southern League. I’m on a public computer right now, so for some reason, I can’t post another thing to BCB right now, but the Southern League rankings are up over at BA right now. Would be nice if someone could do the fanshot. I’ll be fascinated with the SL chat on Cashner (if asked), on Jay Jackson. In the writeup, they indicate that Castro would’ve made it had he qualified.

I'll post it by itself

That is good to hear about Jackson.

Is the Cubs' system the turnaround system of the year?

Inspector #23 certifies that the above post is sarcasm free, most certainly not what she said, and chock full of intangibles, although regressing to the intangible mean, as you'd expect.

a case could be made

that the Cubs system has improved the most from 2008-2009 in regards to general perception. I can’t think of another club that was thought of so lowly last year and looks solid this year, but I’d have to really take time to ponder that.

Goes to show one thing I’ve always said about system rankings – the difference between a solid system and a bad system can be as little as one draft class. Last year’s Wilken crop has been a nice plus to the system with the 3 top arms, and there are a couple guys that I am really curious about for next year from that 2008 class.
