Ranking Top Free Agents
Interesting breakdown of possible landing for the top 50 free agents.
For the Cubs:
Felipe Lopez (God I hope so, but Scutaro would allow Theriot to move back to 2B)
Jon Garland (Coming home to the team that drafted him, but I don't his pitching style works in Wrigley)
Rick Ankiel (Eeh, ok but I think Byrd might be better)

In the past, Lou has resisted playing Theriot at 2B
even while we had better defensive SSs available. It would be interesting if Castro has changed that. Here’s Hendry’s thoughts on our in-house MIF:
I’m very happy with Ryan. Theriot’s a winning-type player. He didn’t play quite as well late when we were out of it as he did the previous year, but he gives you 110 (percent) every day. You win a lot of baseball games with him. I thought Baker did a really good job after we got him. He gives you a lot of protection. He plays well at second. I think Mike Fontenot was a guy, he’d be the first to tell you, that he had a disappointing year. We certainly need him to bounce back. We’ve got (Andres) Blanco, who’s a great defender. It’s no secret that (Aaron) Miles had just a tremendous hiccup and a poor year after two really good years at St. Louis.
Is he traded yet?

Hendry's favorite word these days appears to be "hiccup".
And calling Aaron Miles’ 2007 season “really good” is… bizarre.

Sigh
I don’t expect him to badmouth his players, but this is a fairly sound representation of why Hendry is a bad GM.

That must have been quite a hiccup
if it caused him to be crappy from April to September.
