Brandon Phillips
This topic is being discussed over at mlbtraderumors . The original source appears to be behind a pay wall. I doubt an inter division trade of this caliber would ever take place but I would love to have Philips' bat in our lineup. Here's his career stats.

From what I read...
The Reds want to slash payroll, and adding Bradley would add payroll wouldn’t it?
That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.

I have wanted him for years
I would love for the cubs to get him. He is a solid player. For him I would give up anyone they wanted in the system except Castro and MAYBE Vitters

So it's safe to say: "You ♥ Phillips"?

Why would they trade him within the division?

Agreed
I just don’t see them moving him within division without demanding a huge deal in return.
In general, I’m not expecting much with the MI this offseason. I believe Castro will figure heavily in the FO’s planning, with a mid-2010 ETA a possibility. Theriot will still start at one spot.

I don't see Castro starting before 2011.
He might get a September callup in 2010, but not midseason.

I'd rather see them wait on Castro as well
but there’s a lot out there suggesting that they may ponder calling him up if he does well out of the gate, either in Tennessee or Iowa. Either way, mid-season 2010 or 2011, if they expect him ready in the next year, I don’t anticipate them making a middle infield signing of any significance this year.

the only kind of signing I would like to see
Is Orlando Cabrera or Tejada for one year. That moves Theriot to second and still gives us a competent SS
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

The 'no trades' between division foes could take a slight hit this year
Already we have the White Sox-KC trade.
With baseball economics they way they are, I’m sure some teams will be willing to dump large contracts no matter the team.

Phillips is a good player
But he has some attitude issues that even made Dusty bench him once or twice. I don’t know if that would go over well here with Lou or the fans.
If the Reds were dumb enough to leave him in division I would do it, but I’m not offering anything extra for him.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

Just out of curiosity, what happened?

Well he wasn't running out pop ups
and groundouts. I think Dusty told him to stop, he didn’t (thinking of course that Dusty wouldn’t do anything) and got benched. Also there was some issues with him ignoring take signs on 3-0 counts and then not getting hits.
Now perhaps this is because he thinks Dusty won’t do anything about it (or thought he wouldn’t) but I just don’t see that going over well here.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

Dusty take sign on 3-0?
What is he, trying to clog the bases?
I’d love the Cubs to deal for Phillips. Some serious pop at 2B would help make up for the lack of it in RF.
Seems like the Reds would be better served dealing Harang or Arroyo if they wanted to clear some payroll. Phillips at 5 million is a steal. Arroyo at 9 million? Not so much.

attitude issues ...
sometimes, players with attitude issues reform when they start playing for a winning team.
As other posters have said (and not in response to the original poster) I don’t see MB in any Phillips deal. But what about a package built around Sean Marshall and Vitters? I’d make that deal.
