Dan Uggla
There's word out there that the Marlins are willing to deal Dan Uggla. I don't have a link but check espn, mldtraderumors, etc. What about a Milton Bradley for Uggla switch? With their recent trade of Hermida, the Marlins could be looking for another outfielder, and it might make sense. Cubs fill second base and get a middle of the order guy as well. I'm aware his defense is suspect, but really, when has that stopped the Cubs from signing anyone? Thoughts?

The Marlins don't want to take on money
but I’ve wondered if we paid 15+ M of Milton’s salary if they’d trade us something useful for Bradley. I’m not sure they’d trade us something as useful as Uggla, but, who knows.
Is he traded yet?
Two words.
Hell no.
Putting aside the fact that he could make 6 or 7 million next season, the Marlins couldn’t be less interested in Bradley, or his contract. Not their kind of player. At all.

Three words.
Oh please no. If the Cubs want to go this route, they should just put Jake Fox at second base.

Good news, bad news.
The GM meetings are over and no deal is in place. But perhaps Jimbo laid the groundwork for something.

I'd hope Jimbo buying all those drinks for that Magda look-a-like at the
hotel bar worked for something… oh, you’re talking about Bradley.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand

Yowza, with up the middle defense weighing on
everyone’s mind as needing improvement, this is a sure way to make it worse.
If all bat, no defense is needed at second, just move Soriano back to the infield and put Fox in left.

I've made the same
observations about this. Knowing full well his defense makes him look like someone’s dream DH, his bat makes up for it. I seem to remember we traded for a young third baseman that was all bat-no glove. Ah, where are ye now A-Ram? Anyway, as to the possibility of trading MB for him, I would have to consider that a no-go since what they are doing in trying to ship Uggla out is purge salary. They not only wouldn’t want the headache, but they also wouldn’t want to pay him—even if we do eat a substantial portion of his salary.

Time is an illusion--lunch time doubly so.
The Cubs already have Soriano and Fox to fill the all bat, no glove
positions on the roster.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand
Marlins
have some OF options to turn to. I’m not sure that Bradley makes all that much sense for them unless we eat the money, and I think they could get more useful, younger, cost-controlled talent in return for Uggla.
Uggla is only marginally interesting as a second baseman, as soon as he
moves to an OF corner or 1B or DH, he becomes comparable to Rob Deer.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand
if he can stick at 3rd
he’d be alright there.
Agreed his bat at third would be great.
Does he have the arm? I looked at BR and while fielding % isn’t the best measurment, a career minor league Fielding % of .929 wouldn’t get anyone excited.
That said, Aramis’ was .899 through the minors.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand
The Marlins want to move Uggla and his salary
I don’t see them adding Bradley’s as something that would interest them.
I quit reading after this:
I don’t have a link but check espn, mldtraderumors, etc.

Yuck
So, the Marlins are essentially marketing a third baseman who is going to get a one year salary about equal to what they would have to pay to sign a comparable free agent – in this case, Adrian Beltre or Chone Figgins.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand
the fish
would probably take young pitching for uggla. after all they took 3 pitchers for juan pierre. remember that one. and they stuck us with gregg.another great deal.
