Milton gone in the next 36 hours?
I know, it's relying on a Phil Rogers tweet, but I do expect the Cubs to get rid of MB sooner rather than later, just so it clears up their offseason plans. Let's hope they don't hamstring the offseason plans (read: next year) in a bad deal.

I fixed your link, it didn't work.
Anyway, let’s hope this is true. The sooner the better, so as to get rid of this distraction and get on to the business of acquiring the players that can help the Cubs win in 2010.

Um, slight problem here.
The Phil Rogers tweet referred to was posted at 2:55 on Nov. 10. So hasn’t the alleged “deadline” already passed? In reality, I think Phil was referring to the end of the GM meetings here in Chicago, which wrapped up yesterday. This appears to be a non-story.

Thanks Dave.
I watched the 10 o’clock news for the first time in months last night (don’t ask). And both the Ch.5 and Ch.7 sports guys said something along the lines of “expect [name redacted] out very soon.”
At this point, I want to focus on other things. I propose a moratorium on [name redacted] on this here site for the next 10 days. What say you?
Well, unless [name redacted] is traded in the next 10 days.
But good luck enforcing it.

I think I know her
Scratch that… I want to know her.

Well, if you're going to try to "Scratch that"...
I think you definitely better know her first.

Is how I plan to get to know her. Kind of like a dog sniffing another dog’s hindquarters.
I don’t know where this is going.

I agree.
I certainly wouldn’t violate that moratorium. There are plenty of other things to focus on to fix this club.

Also, this was a case of Phil Rogers being...
Phil Rogers. The GM meetings are hardly where deals get done, but where some groundwork happens for talks at the Winter Meetings next month.

Indeed.
I heard ol’ Phil on WGN yesterday morning suggesting that a trade could go down yesterday, and I knew it wasn’t going to happen before today at the earliest . . .

Things can change though
Normaly, deals don’t get done BEFORE the winter meetings and they have this year.

One of the reasons deals tend not to get done this early
is because Dec. 1st is the deadline for teams to offer salary arbitration to players. Any player who signs before is automatically considered to have been offered arbitration. Teams wait until after that deadline to know whether or not they’re going to have to offer compensation for signing a certain player.

36 hours can't come soon enough.

Is there anything here?
A tweet? It is just a musing. I must be showing my age, I long for the days of the responsible blog posting. Now media types can sling shot any old meaningless thing out there.
A couple of days ago we had Hendry trying to boost MB’s value by claiming last year was a hiccup, and not just his normal pattern of personal behavior. Now we’ve gone headlong into a trade is imminent. Personally, I don’t see there will be a rush. There will be a tremendous number of non-tenders out there this year. Lots of bats for GM’s to pick over. The only option is to get a bad return on our MB investment. Still, I can’t wait.
LOL - was there ever such a thing as "responsible blog posting"?

15 hours to go...
Well, I never heard it before, but it sounds uncommon nonsense.

See that no one leads you astray. Many will come to BCB saying, “I have the trade!” and they will lead many astray. And when you hear of trades and rumors of trades, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet….
Is he traded yet?

This will be the average Cubs fans biggest distraction for the next few hours/days/weeks/months. Get it done Jim.
ah, but who among us are mere "average" Cubs fans?
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
I'll narrow it down
How about to the kind that log on Sunday mornings in November just to see if there is anything new going on? Leaves to rake. Football to watch, but, I have priorities in life. Cubs first.
