Cubs And Diamondbacks Will Play Spring Finales At Chase Field

The Diamondbacks released their spring schedule today; included was the information that the Cubs will play the Diamondbacks in two exhibition games at Chase Field on Friday, April 2 at 8:40 Chicago time, and Saturday, April 3 at 3:10 Chicago time.

The last time the Cubs and D'backs played a similar exhibition schedule at the end of spring training was in 2003. The Cubs won both games and went on to make the playoffs. Just sayin'.

Were those games in 2003 the last time the Cubs won at Chase Field?

Or does it just feel that way?

It's not too far off, actually.

Since the beginning of the 2003 regular season (and including the two playoff losses there), the Cubs are 7-15 in Chase Field.

Maybe spring training games like these...

…really are the key to nullifying the evil power of Chase Field.

I remember when they opened the season in Arizona

a couple of years ago. That was Z’s first opening day start and I recall he got thrown out of the game as he was being removed by Dusty.

They were pounding the snakes and then I believe they got shut down the rest of the series.

Since the Cubs seem to ALWAYS lose the series with the snakes in Arizona, is it really a good idea to play MORE games in the bank hole?

That only seems like "a couple of years ago".

That was 2005. The Cubs won that game 16-6.

Why not? Maybe if they can win exhibition games there, it’ll be a precursor to winning games that count there.

I hope so

because when they lose there, it’s usually really ugly.

Maybe they’ll get in some extra practice in the park and that will help.

The Cubs are 4-1 in exhibition games at Chase Field.

1-1 in 2002, 2-0 in 2003.

Ah, so maybe they should pretend it's still ST

in the regular season when they play the snakes in AZ.

Maybe you're on to something here.

Before the Cubs play their regular-season series vs. the D’backs in Arizona in July, someone should go into the visitors’ clubhouse ahead of the players and put up a calendar that reads “March 2010”.

When will the Cubs release their entire schedule?

Thanksgiving is next week, I know it has to be final. Let’s get the ball rolling! My spring training is booked, I want to see the schedule!

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

I have no idea why they're waiting.

Almost all the other AZ teams’ schedules are out — just waiting on the Cubs, Padres, Royals and Rangers.

maybe there's some four-way

trade thing going on, and part of what they’re trading is road-trips.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Glad you added that "just sayin" part

because my first reaction was “oh crap”.

I had forgotten about those.

So the Cubs record in exhibition games at Chase Field is 5-2, still pretty good.
