Jason Marquis Calls Mets "Perfect Fit"
Well, they probably are. He's wrong about calling Citi Field "a beautiful stadium", though.

I'm shocked he's not already there!
I was sure that his good friend David Wright had been pushing for him to be traded/signed on the Mets for the last 2 years!

I agree with him.
It’s always cool when a guy can play for his hometown (cough, cough – Curtis Granderson – cough, cough). And I’d think the Mets rotation could use the stability he brings.

A team that looks good in the first half
and then slides unstoppably in the second half and doesn’t show up in the playoffs – a perfect fit for Jason Marquis you say? Interesting.
Is he traded yet?

Well, as a Cubs fan, I'd say, "Yes. Indubitably."

If it harms the Mets' chances...
I endorse it wholeheartedly.

Marquis going to New York..
is at least a year overdue. That deal should have been done when he was with the Cubs.

Probably would have gotten something better for him too

Marquis is a nice Jewish boy from Long Island
it makes total sense he’d want to be a Met or a Yankee.

Close but no cigar
He is a nice Jewish boy from STATEN ISLAND though I believe he now lives in Long Island.

I'll bet Citi Field looks beautiful to pitchers
since it’s so hard to hit the ball out of the park.

Future trivia question
Who was the last pitcher to hit a Grand Slam out of Shea Stadium? Jason Marquis.
Had Zambrano (I think) not served one up to Delgado the next night, Marquis would have been the final player to ever hit a Grand Slam out of Shea.

Good memory.
It was Z giving up the GS to Delgado on 9/24/08, one day after Marquis hit his.

It's funny
I can tell you every detail of each game I’ve been to live but for the life of me I’ll usually forget if I watched it on TV an hour later.

I was at both games.
Was late to the first game, and just walked in as Marquis hit his granny. At that point, the game was all over but the Mets fans booing their own team relentlessly (somewhat fun).
The next game, I got to watch mostly Cubs backups against the Mets regulars – wasn’t so fun either.

Met fans booing their own team?
The heck you say?
Actually the B-team had an exciting game against the Mets you talked about. Ramirez hit a 3-run HR in the 10th to seal the deal.
Then the next night I think the Cubs lost but Hoff hit 2 HR. I only remember this because a friend of mine said “My teams luck, this Micah Hoffpauir will hit his first HR against the Mets tonight. Everyone else does”. And I said “With your teams luck, he’ll hit his first two”!

Nah, the day after the Marquis granny, we lost 6-2 to Johan
It was relatively close throughout the game until the Delgado slam in the 6th. A day after that (and obviously when I wasn’t there) was Aramis winning the game in the 10th. You’re right about the 4th game being Micah’s 2 HRs (albeit in a losing effort).

The Delgado slam was the day Aramis won
Because The Mets were up by like 4 or 5 runs that day and then Cubs came back that same inning…I’m very positive of this.

You're right about the slam. My bad.
The B-team lost 6-2 the day after Marquis’ slam to a combination of Reyes and Wright.

Marquis' playoff run
That to me is simply unbelievable.
He has played in 9 MLB seasons. Nine times his team has gone to the playoffs.
He has played on 4 different teams. Three of those 4 did not make the playoffs the year before he came and two of the three missed the playoffs the year after he left (Atlanta being the exception in both cases).
I can’t imagine that that record is matched in baseball history.
