WS starting times are a serious bummer for European fans
With starting times of roughly 1 to 2 AM in western Europe and 3 to 4 AM in Eastern Europe, this year's WS is almost impossible to follow live from our side of the pond. Couldn't at least one game have been scheduled as a day game?

My friends were in Australia and had the same problem
In 2004 they were in Australia for a semester abroad and had the same problem. Being they were Red Sox fans it made it even more difficult considering they actually won the World Series.
They finally found a bar that stayed open exclusively for the games. I couldn’t imagine being in another country with the Cubs in the World Series.
Hell I have to go to Chicago this week for my cousins Bar Mitzvah. I can’t even imagine had Cubs been in the World Series and not being able to go to the game even if I were in the city!

Monday, 2 November 2009, 20:00 New York time is
Tue 09:00 Australia – Western Australia – Perth
Tue 10:30 Australia – Northern Territory – Darwin
Tue 11:00 Australia – Queensland – Brisbane
Tue 11:30 Australia – South Australia – Adelaide
Tue 12:00 Australia – Australian Capital Territory – Canberra
Tue 12:00 Australia – New South Wales – Sydney
Tue 12:00 Australia – Victoria – Melbourne
Tue 14:00 New Zealand – Auckland
Tue 14:45 New Zealand – Chatham Islands
Well, I never heard it before, but it sounds uncommon nonsense.

Right, but...
…. if you’re at work, that could be a problem.

Day Games wouldn't be very good for that part of the world
Tuesday, 3 November 2009, 13:00 New York time would mean that the first pitch would be sometime between 2 AM and 7:45 AM.

Can't make the entire world happy.
And we have more pressing problems, like instant replay and shortening the season/playoffs, and getting Bud Selig fired.

Actually the most pressing problem is getting the Cubs in a WS, and winning it...
Nonetheless, the starting times from my own very personal perspective almost could not be worse.

I was under the impression that you planned on hibernating when the season was over.
If that’s still the case, it should be OK for you to miss a couple nights of sleep now. You’ll be able to catch up all winter. :)

The season isn't quite over yet.... ::yawn::
;-)
But can you imagine what it would be like if the Cubs were in the series. My sleep deficit would be very very serious…

eths, I feel your pain
I know what you’re going through. Back when I was in college (early 80s), I was quite interested in the America’s Cup sailing races for some odd reason. I think it was the whole Dennis Connor, Ted “Captain Outrageous” Turner dynamic, plus a little bit of good old fashioned jingoism as well I’m sure.
So when we (United States) were over in Australia trying to win the Cup back, all the races were being shown at ungodly hours back here. I remember thinking, man – couldn’t at least one race been scheduled at night? ;-)
But ESPN was in its infancy with very little mainstream programming so they were happy to televise the races live even if it was 2 or 3 in the morning. And I was in college, looking for anything to do/watch to avoid studying/sleeping so it was a perfect match.

Count Dracula approves.
The game should be over just before the sun rises, unless it goes to extra innings.

If the game is longish and I get up at 5, then I might catch the last few innings
No rain in the forecast this evening, so little chance of a delayed start.
There is good chance of rain for game #7, assuming that the Phillies are victorious this evening

How many baseball fans do you suppose live there?

Good question - many of the Faroese travel the world
as sailors or work in foreign countries, e.g. in the oil industry, for extended periods, so there actually might be a few.
The islands only have a total population of just under 50 thousand.

Now I ask you.
On what other baseball blog could you learn about the Faroe Islands and their people?
