Insert joke about large California roll....

Or how he really knows how to use his chop sticks….

And once again...

…Carrie Muskat makes misleading statements when she tries to play analyst:

Kosuke Fukudome … finished the 2009 season with nearly identical stats to those from his first season.

2008 OBP: .359
2009 OBP: .375

2008 SLG: .379
2009 SLG: .421

2008 wOBA: .328
2009 wOBA: .346

Nice to hear Kosuke’s chillin’, though. And those highlight clips on that page are awesome.

She only says what the Cubs tell her to say......

When she goes off on her own the Cubs make her make corrections.

She is really bad at her job.

I thought it was funny

that he wanted to have a Lou Piniella umpire moment.

Somehow I can’t picture Fukudome having a meltdown, dirt kicking included, with an umpire.

I’d sure like to see that though.

Hey, it's a new century!

There's a video around somewhere....

… of him having a meltdown with an umpire in Japan, but I can’t locate it. If anyone has a link to this, post it.

Yeah, I remember seeing that on YouTube.

He flings the bat down and goes nuts. I think dragonsfanatic said it was a very rare outburst, though.

I remember dragonsfanatic saying that, too.

I just wish I could find the video.

I dunno

Wouldn’t it be great to go off in a language the ump had no clue about. The ump would just have to stand there and take it.

Year three will be interesting

Like a lot of players who have come over from Japan Fukudome has had trouble adapting. The leagues are just so different, the physical toll higher. I am hoping he has figured out what he needs to do to be successful. To my eye he didn’t wear down as much last year physically or mentally. I’ve said repeatedly that the worst thing that could have happened to Fukudome was making the All-Star team in 2008. He would have been better off skipping the whirlwind, and spending the four day break laying on his sofa.
Here’s to better days ahead.

I thought he improved last year

But if he didn’t have that big contract I don’t think he would have a starting spot handed to him. He seems like a decent 4th OF to me.

He wouldn't have had that big contract handed to him if they didn't think he had potential to be worth it

Last year he got a bit closer to that. Let’s hope he can continue to do that next year, even if we have to shield him from lefties.
