Convention Sold Out

Less than 20 minutes which I believe is a little FASTER than last year. Tickets came to about $66 each with fees. So much for the theory no one would or should support them. I did in fact get through but I am unlikely to go ( before you ask my friends including Kasey have first dibs) If Maddux goes than maybe I will skip the rent for a month and come.. I think  it will be a VERY interesting year . I am sure the whole Ricketts family will be there.

Tried getting tix and was unsuccessful

I’ll gladly buy from anyone who got a pair and can’t go. My winter break finally overlaps the convention this year so I will be in town. Plus it’s my birthday.

If you need any more convincing, I’m a poor little kid from the streets who’s only wish is to meet tom wikkets (that’s my cute little speech impediment to tug on your heart strings) and thank him for saving the fwanchise

Seriously though, anyone looking to sell, respond here and we can talk turkey

I'll make a ticket exchange post for convention passes...

… for those looking, and anyone who has extras.

The theory of not supporting them

was more apt to happen after the 2008 season and never did.

Yeah, I think people are going to be pissed this year

Of course, I think that a lot of years and the Q&A turns into a big lovefest.

True

But it’s going to be tough for Hendry to do enough to wash the stink that was 2009 off his hands.

We don't have to.

Cubs fans don’t have to get over it. Guys like Hendry make lots of money to make important decisions about the Cubs, and every single one last year backfired. No one else was bidding for Bradley, but he overpaid in years and salary for a guy who has had problems with teammates in the past and who has had problems staying on the field. He traded Mark DeRosa, last year’s MVP, “to save money”, and then he paid more than half of DeRosa’s salary towards Aaron Miles, who is done. He got rid of Kerry Wood, the clubhouse leader and an effective closer, so that he could get an overpaid closer in Kevin Gregg who led the league in blown saves the previous year.

Cubs fans have the right to complain all they want with the money that we spend on Cubs Conventions and Cubs games, which are hard enough to get to due to the fact that scalpers have access to the tickets before real fans do.

If you don’t want to hear complaints, stay inside your house with no TV or radio on. It’s going to continue until someone steps in and fixes the mess that Cubs management made last year.

Saying 5000 times a day

Don’t change anything! As long as the ballpark is sold out every game and merchandise purchases stay high everything else don’t matter! So basically if you don’t like the direction of the team stop supporting them and hit em where it matters. That is the only real thing that matters!

What's the issue?

For one thing, I didn’t say I was going to be pissed. I speculated that a lot of the fans will be. Will I have a question that Hendry won’t like? Probably. That’s my perogative. Get over yourself.

Cause it's gets old

Nothing we can do by coming on here and moaning and groaning about it every single day. We know his decisions didn’t pan out last year. Time to forget about the past and look forward to a fresh start.

I don't disagree - but I wasn't grumbling about what he did in the comment that you replied to

Again, I was speculating that fans will be pissed off at the Q&A session. There is a significant difference.

If I have extra passes (my kids probably won’t go), I’ll post in Al’s sidebar exchange…

I got right through.

My old “tricks” with Cubs.com worked this time, which was weird because they seemed to have those figured out when I tried to buy tickets before last season.

I only bought tickets for myself and a friend, because I’ve never been a big fan of scalping. I’m excited to go because it’ll be my first time and I literally live right around the corner on 8th street!

Bless You

Bless you for not being a scalper. If someone’s not going to use the ticket, leave it for someone who wants to take their family members. If only everyone who bought Cubs tickets or Convention passes bought only as many as they really needed, then real fans could actually go without having to empty their bank accounts. The whole system is broken, and allowing scalping of such items is wrong.

by TheGrinch13 on Nov 4, 2009 4:13 PM CST up reply actions

I do the opposite

I always buy MORE than I need or at least the max. Last year I got 8 ( 4 with a room and 4 on line) and only needed two BUT the other 6 went at face to friends and few BCB folks. You KNOW the brokers will buy them so buy the max and make them available to fans

Geez maybe..

Everyone should come use my lucky work computer. It always got me though for tickets the day they go on sale but this was crazy. I opened like 60 VWR windows and I would say 20-25 got through in the first minute. Only needed the first one of course. I just dont know how I can get through so easy and others cant at all. Thoughts on how that could be?
