Ceremonial First Pitches...
... and why they have become a cause for laughter in Korea.

Similar to some of the seventh inning stretches at Wrigley, no?
Not that there haven’t been some poor first pitches.
It’s part of the game. It’s obviously more for the fans than anything else. Do I like Mike Ditka any more or less because he can/can’t throw a strike? No. Am I upset if I’m running late to the game and miss the ceremonial pitch? Not at all.
That being said, there is an excess of invitations towards people who clearly haven’t thrown a ball in years, if at all, and have no ties to the city of Chicago. Why is Ozzie Ozbourne throwing out a pitch? Leave it to players on other teams, high school/college champions, and people like Eddie Vedder or Pete Wentz, who are from the area and care about the team

Exactly.
If they are going to keep the 7th inning stretch singing, let Santo do it. Or rotate it among the 4 broadcasters. But get rid of the celebrities. Done and done.

Exactly
Personally, I thought it was really cool when Eddie Vedder came out and sang/threw the pitch. He’s from Evanston and is a lifelong Cubs fan. Great. If he’s in town, I’m all for it. Other than that, Pat and Ron do a great job. I’m sure Ernie Banks and Billy Williams don’t mind showing up every once in a while to sing either.

The TV highlight of the season might have been
Vedder in the booth jotting down random lyrics on what just happened on field.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand

I dunno
If they discontinue the 7th Inning Stretch, we’d be deprived of the deep thoughts and incisive insights of great intellects like Kelli Pickler.

And the description of a "floul" ball as only Jon Lovitz can deliver...
