Five tool player available!
There's a hot center fielder on the market that I think the Cubs should jump on and his name may sound familiar: Corey Patterson. His name may sound familiar because he is the older brother of a former Cubs prospect by the name of Eric. Eric was traded away to fetch the greatest change-up pitcher ever to come from the Great White North, Mr. Rich Harden! He may be hard to pry away from the Milwaukee Brewers since he's cheap on just a minor league contract, but I think the Cubs should put together a dynamite package to blow away our division rivals. This guy is that good!
Now I know the elder Patterson's stats from the last year may not look pretty, but he only had 30 plate appearances last year, and I think he'd really shine if given the opportunity! He's a top prospect that I think people have given up on too early. He's really toolsy, cuz he has run fast, thrown hard, and had some hits! Also, I really think the Cubs need to get a little less Canadian, and Patterson's from Georgia which is just about as non-Canadian as you can get! Not to mention he throws righty and HITS left-handed, and EVERY team can use more guys like that! He does strike out a bit, but he really makes up for it because we need a center fielder so we can move Mr. Kosuke Fukudome back to right field.
I don't know about you all, but it's potential moves like this that make me glad to be a Cubs fan!

Sorry, I'm depressed.

I'd be ok with that

I'd definitely like to see the Cubs kick the tires on Hardy.

Strangely enough...
… there are enough to have an entry in the Canadian Encyclopedia.

That'll teach me to make vaguely anti-Canadian statements
without doing my research first.
There’s a Canadian Encyclopedia? I’ll have to see what else I can learn in there about that magical country!

There are peach trees galore!
Every summer, Penticton, B.C. (not far from where Rich and I grew up) has something called “Peachfest”, where young women walk around in the 100 degree heat in bikinis. Good times. Fond memories of college.

First it was DeRosa and Woody, then Rich Hill, and now Corey Patterson?
Clearly some BCBers have seen the light and are on a mission from God.

They’re getting the team back together!!!!!

Ahhh, didn't bite on this one.
Reference to C-Pat as having 5 tools in the present sense brought me back to reality.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand

We used to joke in the bleachers about Corey's "five tools".
Chainsaw, phillips-head screwdriver, ball-peen hammer, socket wrench… we never could figure out the fifth one.

I was sitting in the R-CF Bleachers
during this bizarre game and I was just shocked that he was really there. I don’t recall people being too harsh to him, maybe because he makes us sad more than anything.

LH reliever in the 90s
umm… just to be clear – that’s 90s as in 1990s, not throwing in the 90s.

Oh you meant...
C. Patterson. Played outfield for Cincy, in ’09.
That’s right Clare Patterson played Outfield for the Cincinnati Reds in 1909.

I got to see the beginning of the end of this young man.
The game against St. Louis in 2003 where he tripped over 1st and got hurt for the year.
Randy Wells. A product of the Roy Halladay School of Pitching, located in Toronto, Canada. Possible relocation.

I remember that.
For half of the year, he was great, and seemed to be fulfilling his promise. After that injury, he really stunk it up.
My guess is that he was eventually going to tank, injury or no injury.
IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!

Actually...
… Patterson had a pretty good year in 2004 — not great, but decent, with a .771 OPS, 24 HR and 32 stolen bases. But the strikeout total was alarming (168, third most in the NL and fourth-most in Cubs history), and in 2005 he fell off the cliff, having the worst offensive season of anyone since 1968.
