Angels Sign Abreu To 2-Year Deal
... with an option for 2012. The article doesn't say how much the deal is for, though; knowing that would help give an idea of what the market might be like this offseason.

Assuming his performance doesn't sharply decline
that doesn’t sound like a terrible deal. Although his defense is atrocious.

Their DH spot will open up in Vlad's absense this year
I’d imagine they’re envisioning him for that role since, indeed, he was a butcher in right this year.

Abreu slots over to DH in 2010 with Vlad a guarantee to be gone
Bobby Abreu as a DH is a helluva good deal for the Angels. Abreu can still flat out hit and is a clutch and consistent run producer.

This is the guy
that should of been in a Cub uniform last year. Sure his glove is suspect, but his bat and his patience at the plate are beyond valuable.

Meh, some things are just meant to be.
Looks to me like Abreu was destined to finish his career as an Angel. The fact that he can shift seemlessly into the DH spot makes this all the more a good fit for both sides. It’s entirely possible Hendry never really had a viable shot at Bobby in the first place.
