Starlin Castro Vitters etc LIVE Sat night
A reminder that MLB network is broadcasting the AFL "Rising Stars" game. The four Cubs are Castro, Vitters.Parker and Cashner. So if you you are Cubs fan with no social life ( sound familiar) at 7PM CST time Saturday you can watch guys we hope to see at Wrigley someday ( not counting the Road to Wrigley game) play.

You could always TiVO the game
or if you’re really retro, fire up the ’ole VCR!

Really retro is watching it live, in black and white.
Really, really retro is where you only get three network channels, (MLB Network NOT being one of them) and you either listen to it on your transistor radio under your bedcovers or you simply read about it in the newspaper the next day. Make that two days later because the game ended after the paper went to press…
Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...

I seriously might DVR it.
Never thought I’d say that about an AFL game, but I think I’ve caught the ol’ Castro fever.

I wish I could watch...
U-Verse doesn’t carry MLB….the only thing I really don’t like about u-verse.

That's the only thing?
Directv, FTW!!!
NFL Direct Ticket is worth Directv alone. Uverse is awful. My parents have it and you have to go to the 1000’s for local HD channels? Directv allows you the option to hide all standard definition channels and show solely HD.

I only have 1 HD tv (and I wouldn’t have that if my living room TV had not broke down after 18 years)…the other 3 are SD so HD isn’t a problem. NFL Direct Ticket? Who needs it. The only football I am interested in are Bear games and they are all shown locally, so I don’t need that. I love the fact I can program my DVR remotely when I forget something…and when a big storm comes…I don’t get service interruptions like my father-in-law gets with his Direct TV.

I actually knew this but did not want to spoil it
AZ Phil at TCR says Cashner won’t play either as he pitched 4 innings yesterday so for Cub fans it will be the Castro/Parker show but I suspect Donald Veal has been selected since he has some the best AFL stats .

I remember reading he had a minor injury
that would keep him out of the game. He did something in batting practice on Wednesday. I don’t remember exactly what the injury was.

I am sure he can throw two days in a row
not that big a deal. He only thew one inning which is normal for him.

Yikes I did not realize they had him starting in the AFL
Those numbers are SICK. I think the Cubs will regret losing him and taking Patton.

his numbers are crazy
Especially the lack of walks. He sure found control!
by cubswin on Nov 7, 2009 1:49 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Eh
I think they weren’t going to protect him regardless of who they selected in the Rule V draft. It’s more accurate to say they might have made a mistake protecting someone else on the 40 man roster instead. Finally, I think it’s a little too soon to tell if his microscopic walk rate is for real or just a 16 inning mirage.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Strained a pectoral muscle
in batting practice on Wed according to the Trib. MSS had a blow out today but the only Cub involved was Castro who went 2-5 and LOWERED his BA to 431.
