worth a serious look

There are some health concerns, but the Cubs really need a back-up closer option and Putz has the experience. Not sure how much he’d command but he’s a good pick-up if healthy.

If we can get him at a low risk

Absolutely! He would compliment a decent bullpen.

Obviously worth a look...

but I wouldn’t hold your breath. I have to think someone will offer him a closer’s job. And it seemed after the trade to NY that he wasn’t real thrilled with going to a set-up role.

It will be real interesting to see how the FA market is impacted by what looks like an influx of players who get their option declined or aren’t offered arbitration.

No way I want another Mets castoff

There’s a reason this team sucks year in and year out.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

A Mets castoff?

So with such fine logic I imagine you’d bypass the opportunity to land Johan Santana.

Sorry but this guy spent one year on the Mets, had some elbow problems and had chips removed during the season. Prior to this one season he had a very successful tenure with the Mariners. Now if you don’t want to get Putz due to the possible arm issues or the cost, thats fine, but linking Putz to the Mets sucking year in and year out is just plain stupid.

He was injured most of 2009

So I wouldn’t really call him a castoff.

If he comes cheap, it's worth a shot.

But his performance has gone waaaaaay downhill since his truly dominant days.

yeah, hes a bit pricy

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
