Poor FL

To be used as a leveraging tool in the Cubs negotiations with Mesa / AZ. Its not nice to play with someones emotions that way! I think it would take Arizona to flat out walk away from a deal for the Cubs to ever seriously consider FL. However, I thought the point about the Daytona Cubs was a nice touch – you know so Mesa gets the hint they mean business.

I felt Florida was simply a bargaining tool also.

Now I’m not so sure. The more I read about this, there is no doubt in my mind that Florida has every intention of winning this battle. Whether they will or not remains to be seen, but they are definitely in it to try to win it. Ricketts wants to best facility possible….and good for him for feeling that way. I think he would like to stay in Mesa if possible, but if Mesa does not step up to the plate and present a better offer than Naples, I’m more and more convinced that they will lose the Cubs.

I believe Mesa will match or exceed anything that Florida offers.

Thus, game over.
