Twitter becomes a big player in baseball
I saw this story linked from MLB Trade Rumors and thought it was interesting. I'm a big fan of Twitter and its pretty interesting a forum such as Twitter can have such an impact in a short amount of time.
I wonder what will be the "next big thing" that will impact how information is spread and discussed.

Gots lots of opinions on the topic, as a journalist.
I just think most of them are not appropriate for a baseball blog though.
But Twitter has facilitated communication, as well as rampant rumor-mongering. It’s too bad that some (ahem) journalists (cough) rely on their Twitter sources to write stories and that “editors” are lazy enough to approve them.

Interesting article.
I found Twitter a very enjoyable way to monitor the Winter Meetings, because I was getting info directly from the writers covering it. But, then again, I’m also a casual fan, so I could choose to navigate away from my Twitterstream it whenever the info (and rumor) overload got to be too much. I can only imagine how difficult it was to keep track of for Tim at MLBTR or anyone else.
Incidentally, Duk at Big League Stew wrote a similiar post on this subject here.

Twitter is a useful tool to track the hot-and-heavy action of the off-season
Of course, you could use diseased carrier pigeons to track the Cubs’ progress.

Well, I never heard it before, but it sounds uncommon nonsense.
