Mesa officials met with Cubs brass in Chicago on Friday; article says that "if they [the Cubs] opt for Mesa, the team and the city have been working on an agreement that would be ready to sign immediately."

A good friend believes

Ricketts are “yacht” people not desert people and will leave Mesa for sure. I wouldn’t go that far and I’m not sure where he gets his information. This whole thing has me worried though that nothing has to make sense. I want to Cubs to stay in Mesa, I hope they announce this soon.

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

If you had to place odds.....

on the Cubs staying in Mesa would it be greater than 50%? IMHO I think it is a coin flip.

I used to think this was a done deal. I am not so sure anymore.

Thank God I did not get that time share in AZ!

The article indicates...

… as I quoted, that there’s already an agreement being worked out between the Cubs and Mesa.

There doesn’t appear to be any such deal being worked on between the Cubs and the Naples people — the Naples people don’t even have financing yet.

Exactly

I think the point that Naples pretty much is just blowing smoke should not be under estimated. All they have done is “arrange for a committee” to talk about the potential if the Cubs chose to move to their county. Thats it – aside from pointing out a space of vacant land that could be developed I have not seen anything credible from Naples. And I certainly have not heard anything about the actual $$$ they would spend or where it would come from. I will give their politicians credit they did say “no new taxes”. To me the whole FL thing stinks of a political ploy to try an show the voters in the county that their politicians made a strong effort to lure the Cubs over – and thats about it.

Come on.....

Al.

“if they opt for Mesa……..”

I hope they stay in Mesa. It seems like that works best for most here (including you).

How do you know there is no deal being worked on between the Cubs and the Naples people? No disrespect but you don’t have a clue what is going on.

This is the Ricket’s call. Plain and simple……..

Every article I have read about the Naples people....

… indicates that they have no concrete proposal at this time.
