ESPN.com reporting he's taking a physical; presuming he passes it, he'll sign a two-year deal with the Giants.

Good for DeRosa
He’s going to a team with a strong shot at the 2010 playoffs and that is blessed with an excellent underrated manager in Bochy, a superstar in the making in Sandoval and some of the finest young pitching the game has.
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
geez....you need to be a Giants fan then
would take away pain from you
Wrigley Bound in the Summer of 2010
Now if Kenny Williams was the GM of the Giants, that would be heaven.

WAAAAAAAAA :(

It has to be a conspiracy.
The Giants are at Wrigley Field for three weekdays in September — games that might otherwise be tough for the Cubs to sell. Now all the DeRomantics will sell those three games out.
Outstanding marketing decision by the Cubs to get the Giants to sign him.

he looks horrible in red ;)

Giants somehow land a big bat for left field and they might be the team to beat in the National League
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
Lincecum, Cain, Sandoval, Baumgarner, Wilson and a lot of nice complementary pieces
San Francisco is a good ballclub. Potentially a damned good ballclub if they can land another bat.
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
No love for Zito & Rowand ?

the Phillies are obviously the team to beat
and that offense isn’t really that scary. Good, but not the best..
Wrigley Bound in the Summer of 2010
They nearly made the playoffs last year with a totally anemic offense
Don’t underrate their pitching.
what is crazy for $100 Alex
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
what are you on and can I have some???

Might - Operative Word
I agree the Giants might be the team to beat in the National League with all that pitching. To your point, they could use another bat. I know the Phillies are the favorites, but the Giants will have a good shot at the 2010 NL pennant barring injuries.

Boy, do we have a deal for them
How about a left fielder with a 35 inch 33oz bat? That’s a pretty big bat.

maybe they are being traded to SF

Chase Utley's vat of hair gel exploded.
Many were lost in the gelantinous mass.

Is that Chase Utley, or
is that a cross between Pat Riley and ’80s-era Glenn Frey?

Isn't AT&T Park considered pitcher-friendly?
I wonder how DeRo’s late-blooming home run stroke will hold up there – especially given his ‘09 wrist injury. He actually didn’t have a great year offensively as it is (besides the career-high home runs, of course). Well, I wish him the best.

It might actually suit him pretty well.
DeRo has line-drive power. If he can aim for the power alleys there, he might hit a lot of doubles.

Cool I like the Giants
Really glad he won’t be in Cards uniform anymore.

Um sort of yes
I wanted to BEAT them but I liked them unlike say THE PADRES in 84. Somebody did a column in 89 about how newspaper/sports people would try to justify some animosity between Cubs & Giants fans but there just wasn’t any.

Would differ in the opinion on the Giants, but since the Giants have been in San Fran, I would agree there really is not any long standing rivalry.

He was the Card's #2 option in case Holliday goes somewhere else
Let’s all hope that Holliday signs with New York or Boston. Anywhere other than St. Louis. That way, they would have to resort to plan C (Shumaker?).

but that leaves budget for Pujols
I want them to overpay Holliday and hopefully come up short for Pujols
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
God I wish people would stop with this...
I don’t mean to single you out, but this line of thinking is just absurd. Do you honestly believe that the Cards would do ANYTHING that would jeopardize their chances of resigning Pujols?
Not unless Pujols arm falls off before
time to renew the contract.
at daver's request, Let's frontload this B**ch!
Just a guess, but I say Johnny Damon winds up in left field for the Cardinals
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
Oh PLEASE !
Than the Cubs won’t have the worst defensive LF in the NL Central .

Good for Mark. In hindsight,
the Cubs would have been better in 2009 with DeRosa on the roster to play RF and backup 3rd, and MB pouting in another city.
I’m happy he’s out of the division, not because he’s great, but so we don’t have to read about his exploits in the event the Cubs battled for the division with his team.

Another old man to join the old men who make up
most of San Francisco’s offense.
I love the Giants’ pitching, but I don’t like their offense. DeRosa will help then a little, but not nearly as much as DeRomantics might think.

I feel better now.
I knew he wasn’t coming back to the Cubs, but I didn’t want him re-signing with the Cards — it felt really dirty rooting for them in the playoffs.

You do realize that I never, ever root against DeRo, don't you?
