Wow. I don't fault you for posting this, but

The linked article was one of the more stupid ones I’ve read in a while.

Agreed.

Whoever “Evans Clinchy” is (does that sound like a made-up name or what?), he’s 100% wrong. Jim Hendry has gone on record as saying the Cubs are not going to be big players in free agency this offseason.

Look for Bay to go to the Mariners.

i thought

it sounded like a made up name too, maybe this is actually from the onion sports page

It read kind of like a Bleacher Report post.

Exactly.

This article came up in my Yahoo! news alerts and I couldn’t resist reading and commenting. I don’t believe the author has responded to any of the comments yet. Oh, and yeah, Evans Clinchy does sound made up. The only thing he’s a candidate for clinching is “Worst ‘09-’10 Off-Season Blogpost.”

Even if they had the budget room

Where the hell would he play?

Wrigley Bound in the Summer of 2010

If this were to happen

it would only be because Soriano is somehow not on the team. There’s no reason to believe that the Cubs have any motivation to eat any of Soriano’s contract, so I find moving him to be highly unlikely.

Yes, this won’t happen. How could this article get posted on NESN.com and look somewhat respectable? Of course, there also was a rumor on ChicagoTribune.com that siaid there was truth to the Adrian Gonzalez to White Sox rumor.

I saw this earlier today...

and laughed. It looked legit, but the headline and content was a headscratcher, alright. Either way, I called Evans Clinchy and he said that after we sign Bay the Cubs are most likely trading MB for Jeter, A-Rod, Joba, and cash considerations. And Charlie Weis is joining the team as special bench coach for the Shark.

The guy is apparently pretty psyched about being a Tufts U alum.
