The 10 Worst Baseball Contracts Of The 2000s
Any time you complain about Alfonso Soriano's deal, check out this link -- it didn't even make this list. Some of these contracts are truly horrific, including the deal to Jason Schmidt, who many here hoped the Cubs would sign. (Good thing they passed.)

A name I hadn’t thought about in so many years. I didn’t realize his contract was that bad for the Dodgers.
The author of the article
does apologize to Soriano, and a few others, for not including him on this list. So, conceivably, he is one of the top 15 worst contracts.
But hey, at least its not top 10!

Al is getting more bizarre by the day
As if you take solace in the fact that some dope analyst doesn’t think the God-awful $136 million Soriano deal, $48 million Fukudome deal and $30 million Bradley deal are horrendous enough to make his top 10 list.
Good grief. Is there a silver lining everywhere Al? You have become a SERIOUS apologist for the Cub organization the last 24 months. Your unbiased objective side has been thrown out the window for reasons I do not understand.

Impossible!
Unfathomable! Unthinkable! Incomprehensible!
Actually, here’s a serious question for BLou (which I am willing to bet he won’t answer):
Which of those contracts do you think is better than Soriano’s?

Oh, yeah
Inconceivable!

On occasion.

Is it really a question of which is better?!?!
Are you preposterous enough to look for an actual silver lining to make yourself feel better about the disastrous $136 million, 8 year trainwreck of a deal handed out to Alfonso Soriano?!?!
Jason Schmidt’s contract was a disaster. But Schmidt’s contract also is now done and off the books while we have to look forward to 5 more years of Alfonso Soriano hacking his way to glory while being the most God-awful left fielder on the planet. And yes, there IS a big difference in $136 million versus $44 million (Schmidt’s deal).

The article was in regards to production
and Schmidt gave the Dodgers absolutely nothing. Yes, Soriano had a bad year last year, but prior to that the gave the Cubs a player with an almost .900 OPS. Which I bet will be closer to what Soriano does in the up coming season than he gave us last year.
Soriano actually has contributed to the Cubs, including two post-season appearances, unlike Schmidt who pitched all of ten starts for them in three years.
