Well, Will Carroll has been wrong before.
Let’s hope he’s right this time.

Would rather have
Granderson .. Cameron is getting old and TOO many strikeouts .. only a temporary fix because of age . But I have to admit it would not cost us any prospects . But it’s only one to two years .. Granderson would cost the Cubs prospects but IMO he is a lot better than Cameron also Granderson would be part of the Cubs core for years to come
Granderson may not be available.
Thus the Cameron idea.

Yes Al
Cameron would be option #2 IMO .. Then in a year or two look again to see the options in centerfield for the Cubs . Long term goals vs. short term goals
Hey, my original idea
was to get both Granderson AND Cameron.
Not that it was all that realistic…
Is he traded yet?

Granderson...
…K’s his ass off as well.
I also think he is a tad overrated.

Hope story is half right
Bradley gone .. He was a mistake … Now bury it and move on
Irony?
the last time we had a player who was to sign once a tr ade was completed by the Cubs……Bradley
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
The most telling fact in the article
Bradley has the same agent as Todd F. Hundley.
Fontenot (fon-te-no): Cajun for "scrappy"
Good.
Maybe his trade can get us as good a return as that one did.

Karros and Grudz today
for MB and I might still be interested in it

I don't know.
Heyman says today that we are not getting anywhere on a deal:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/12/06/milton.bradley/index.html
I think it is becoming more and more likely he is a Cub in 2010.
Where do you draw that conclusion?
Just because a deal isn’t being made rightthisfreakingminute?
I swear, the patience level of some here is about three seconds.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Patience has nothing to do with it.
I just think that we won’t find any takers for him, or, if we do, we end up with a worse option.
I could definitely be wrong, but that is just how the story has unfolded to me over the past few months.
Well, you posted a link saying the Cubs are in a holding pattern...
… and assumed that meant he’d be a Cub in 2010. I disagree.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
I would normally agree regarding the patience...
But in this case, the Cubs need to move MB ASAP. Once the non-tenders hit the market, it may be nearly impossible to move him.
I'm not so sure about that.
I think once Bay and Holliday come off the market, we might find an extra team or two interested in Bradley, and a team with bigger pockets. The only possible non-tender with upside even close to Bradley’s was already traded to Boston.

That said,
I don’t think we get to that point because Jim doesn’t want to wait around and have Bradley hanging over this offseason for months.
Is he traded yet?
by DGU on Dec 6, 2009 6:52 PM CST up reply actions
Could be.
Certainly there won’t be too many “quality bats” available… I just figured teams might be more likely to scrape up a Brian Giles, Jermaine Dye, Vlad, Nick Johnson, Nady, etc., for a lower price and fewer headaches even if less production.
But your point may very well work out… of course as you note, hopefully we don’t get to that point.
Curious - when you do your mental calculations on "upside"...
…do you just base it on MB’s talent or do you take into account his (ahem) somewhat checkered past?

I'd much rather sign Cameron than Marlon Byrd
Obviously, Granderson would be better since he is younger and is more proven than Byrd. I don’t trust Byrd outside Arlington — even though Rudy is here now — but we were saying the same thing a few years ago about another guy who had had a career year in Arlington before Jim Hendry “overpaid” for him.

Good point on Byrd-DeRo
For me it’s all about various costs, especially in years – and that’s stuff we don’t know.

Except Byrd would be cheaper
I really don’t like either option. I just don’t see them as a missing piece. Soriano and Cameron back-to-back in a lineup don’t inspire confidence to me.
Can somebody give us a quick and dirty comparison between
Bryd and Cameron defensively? After seeing what Byrd’s done over the past three years, albeit in Texas, I wouldn’t mind him on a one or two year deal. For his career, he’s about as effective vs. righties or lefties, and for the past three years, he’s actually been better vs. righties. If the only real options are RH for CF, this is somewhat important since once again they will be overweighted with RH batters
"Enough foreplay- let's get crackin'"- Fred Garvin
Byrd is more than adequate in CF.
He’s certainly better than Dome. However, Cameron is still a near GG CF — Byrd can’t hold his jock defensively.

The odd thing about this rumor
is that Hendry has been talking about wanting to play the trade market. If after trading MB, he just signs Cameron – what playing of the trade market does he plan to do?
Is he traded yet?
I think going after another starter would be a safe bet

trade for Fox

I was thinking 8 years...
so maybe we can split the difference. :) Chad would also like box seats to the WS and a $4 million bonus for when he wins the Cy Young.

So -
Would you make this trade:
Bradley and cash to cover his entire contract for Jordan Scafer?
Is he traded yet?
I'd do that
I don’t think Atlanta would, though. At some point, they’d be better off with McLouth in a corner role. Add in that they are in the start of their next core, and I don’t think they’d deal any critical chips away. After all, they could simply sign, say, Mike Cameron, and get what they are looking for (some right handed power to hit in the bottom half of the lineup). Do I think they’d be tempted by the idea? Perhaps, but I just don’t know if Bradley and cash is enough for them to pull the trigger.
same, I agree
Schafer would fit well, but would Cox want Bradley?

I do think the Braves would part with Schafer in the right deal.

I'm not sold that the combination of the two things will happen that quickly
Simply put, I think it makes little sense for Mike Cameron to sign that quickly. He might as well wait and see what happens with other situations, namely, the Yankees, but perhaps another team starts to show interest.
You really are...
underestimating the Piniella – Cameron connection.

Am I underestimating it
if I hope Cameron is so eager to play for Lou that he pulls a Dawson and offers a blank one- year contract?
Is he traded yet?
by DGU on Dec 6, 2009 8:22 PM CST up reply actions
No..
Not sure I see the comparison though. In this case, there’s mutual respect, and a desire on both sides to have him here. In Dawson’s case, well…

Nevermind..
I get what you’re saying now.
by Damen Jackson on Dec 6, 2009 8:34 PM CST up reply actions
I am?
I’m simply saying that I think it is in Cameron’s best interest to see where the market stands. I mean, if we want to talk about connections, another one of the teams he’s been rumored with, the Angels, have one of his best friends in baseball (IIRC) in Torii Hunter (sure, it makes little sense for Cameron to go there, but there have been some rumors on that).
You know I will never buy another Hasbro Product after they gave us this defunctive piece of crap
I’ve never trusted this man as a result…

prick…
Wrigley Bound in the Summer of 2010
It is interesting now they think we might keep Burrell on the bench

Or do the Cubs just feed him false rumors for the fun of it?
I mean, how do you write “imminent for the past 72 hours” and not ask if your source is pulling your leg?
