Tragic IMO
Gammons is an excellent reporter, truly knows and respects the game. I hope he continues his work on his own or at another outlet. He’s one of the good guys
"If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me." ~ Leo Durocher
I was wanting to ask this
but who are the guys/reporters that nobody trusts?
Rosenthal?
Levine?
I trust those two
It’s more the local guys and the broadcasters. I just am not a huge fan of the Tribune or the Sun Times sports writers. ESPN’s crews for the ball games are far from decent. I do like Len and Bob. We should start a thread, who are your favorite reporters…

Anyone writing for the Tribune. Most people writing for the Sun-Times.
Rosenthal and Levine are OK in my book.
That seems awful sudden. I wonder if he's having more health problems

That was my first thought when I saw this announcement.

SURE HOPE NOT
Peter has always done a great job . Gotta wonder about his health tho …Good luck to him …
Gammons might be a Red Sox homer...
…but he’s a very knowledgeable baseball fan. First Harold now Peter. BBTN isn’t anymore.

Baseball Tonight
just became all former players who wouldn’t know an adverb from an aardvark.
There is no such thing as an ugly female breast
Any chance he shows up on MLBNetwork here and there?
I always thought Gammons and Reynolds were the two of the best baseball studio guys.
There's a report that Gammons is indeed headed to the MLB Network.

If it's true, that's quite a coup!

So Gammons was scooped on this
By an Everet AquaSox tweet?
Maybe Gammons is losing a step….ye olde shriveled left testacle of the Boston Red Sox…still, have to love him.

thats a little strange
it seems a little soon to announce the switch
He was on Baseball Tonight and said his goodbyes.
He almost started Crying too. AWWWWWWWWWW. So is he going to become the comish after Bud?
Fair to guess that Gammons may have serious health problem
I’ve always liked Peter Gammons. He isn’t a sabermagician geek and also stays away from being bombastic or controversial. He has lost something off his fastball in recent years, but he is still solid.
I hope his health is okay. I worry about that given the abruptness of this announcement coupled with his very serious health scare of a few years ago.
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
So I guess its all Timmy Kurkjians job now
Which is good, I like him and he and Buster Olney both seem to have more personality than Gammons
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
There wasn't really any reason for me to watch ESPN last year...
… with the MLB Network available. Now there’s REALLY no reason.

Not many people have MLB Network
I know my expanded Comcast package does not.

Yes, I believe all the Comcast packages have it.

Heard in downtown Indy tonight that Gammons is headed to MLB.com
Don’t know any terms, but that’s what I was told by a good source.
I love to play baseball. I'm a baseball player. I've always been a baseball player. I'm still a baseball player. That's who I am. - Ryne Sandberg
He'll do MLB.com, MLB Network and NESN pre and post-game work.

Wish we saw more of Bob Costas.
But NBC is about as far removed from baseball these days as they have ever been. I always enjoy listening to Bob talk baseball, and even not being from Chicago, he has a lot of respect for what Cub fans are all about. You know who I miss on local broadcasts? Dan Plesac. I always thought he was great doing studio analysis on the Comcast telecasts. I was really surprised that he went to MLB Network since I think he lives in the Chicago area. Todd Hollansworth taking his spot? He’s not bad, I guess, but Plesac was great.

I like Plesac better on the MLB Network than I ever did when he was here in Chicago.

I would give my left nut to have Bob Costas broadcasting MLB 24/7.
