I kind of thought this would be thier attitude all along
Honestly I was just afraid to say it for fear of the flames

Too bad [name redacted] doesn't know what it's like . . . .
This probably reflects more on Hendry than anything else.

The idea of just releasing Milton is both ignorant and foolish.

But could threatening it
encourage a team hoping to use the Cubs to take out their trash become more inclined to deal?
Is he traded yet?

Between this...
…and Lou’s quote in this article, the Cubs don’t seem to have any leverage whatsoever. Right now, it feels like Hendry is going to beg and plead for any kind of trade. And when he comes up empty, he’s going to go moping back to the Tampa Bay Rays, take Pat Burrell and pay all of Milton’s salary for 2011.

Wow...
This news just keeps pissing me off. Literally the best possibly solution out of this whole fiasco is to keep bradley. Why can’t they sit his ass down and tell him " Look, get your head out of your ass. We paid you alot of money and gave you the contract you wanted. You owe us big time! Stop being a P.O.S. crybaby and deliver."

Thin skinned people like bradley wont take kindly to that
This Chicago Cubs team is currently Aaron free. Keep it that way, please.

Don't really care if he's thin skinned or not
And you’re right Al they probably tried it already..BUT they need to do it again and again and again till it takes hold.

There are some people you can do that with again and again and again...
… and it never changes a thing.
I suspect Milton Bradley is one of those kind of people.

AGREE 100 % .....
This is a mess for the Cubs . They knew that Bradley had alot of problems before the deal was inked . But yet they went thru with it . Gotta wonder what Hendry and Lou were thinking . Ricketts really has to sit back and take a very long hard look at this mess. ( And try to prevent this from happening again )

Hendry can't put this on Lou...

I think most clubs...
…can see through any smoke screen the Cubs would want to put up regarding Bradley, and wouldn’t fall for it.
Again, all you have to do here is put yourself in the shoes of another GM and what would you require to take on someone like Bradley? The answer is; basically eliminating your risk as much as possible. The Cubs aren’t looking real good in regards to this whole debacle, and no one else wants to be the next one to grab the hot potato unless they are protected.
To me, Ricketts has made a stand, and that stand is he is not going to allow Hendry or anyone in the future to piss away money without a decent return on investment. He may indeed stand his ground on this one and deal with the short term pain to send a message to the league in how they will do business and to let Hendry know money doesn’t grow on trees.

This may be a stupid question...
…but why would the Cubs release him over sending him to the ICubs? Can he file some sort of grievance with the union? Is it not worth the disruption he would cause at the minor leauge level?

The idea of relasing him is appealing -
and would probably be helpful in terms allowing jimmy to work on other moves but I still don’t see it happening before spring training report date – until then there might as well be a ‘mb rumored to being going to ____’ post every day
