Cubs f/x: Updating the Cubs' Center Field Picture
Curtis out. Melky and Pods in. And Rule 5 could shake things up on the lower end of the depth chart.

...who's not very good defensively there and much, much better in right field.
Catch my act on Twitter as @dat_cubfan_dave.
I guess it becomes the magic
question of what’s there to spend. Not much and Pods cheap, he could fill the role of Gathright as a 5th OF CF option who could do something. His defense is awful, wouldn’t want to see him in CF every day and his bat is too anemic for a corner spot.
I prefer Cameron, but what if what I wanted mattered with the Cubs, Hendry wouldn’t have signed Soriano or Bradley because Beltran would still be in CF.
at daver's request, Let's frontload this B**ch!
Scotty Pods had a good year last year
He can steal bases, and is a solid leadoff hitter. He projects as way better than a fifth OF and even more so than Joey “the CarJumper” Gathright

Prepare to hold your nose
This whole offseason is being driven by dumping Bradley. If the Cubs end up eating a bunch of money, and I don’t see why any team out there is going to do us a favor, we’ll wind up somehow with another bad contract/player in return. Or ,a very stop gap Scott Pods in CF. He can lead off, at least. I can think of worse things than Pods in CF, like Fukudome there and MB in RF. The offense would probably be better and you could shift Pods to LF and take out Soriano in a game where you have the lead late. Sam Fuld or Reed Johnson, who I still hope we can work something out with, are very capable defensive replacements.
