Damnit.
I know it’s a business, but you can’t tell me Kevin Gregg is gonna be better than Kerry Wood. And Wood is a fan favorite with Cubs’ loyalties. Still makes me mad.

Think of it as Marmol replacing Woody
and Gregg replacing Howry.
To me, the big question is, who replaces Marmol?
I think Angel Guman is the wildcard in the bullpen mix.

Guzman had better be good.
Or the bullpen will not be as good as last year.

Eh
Hopefully this is a nice little two year vacation for him. That way he can come home after his Indian days are done

I almost certainly think this isn't his last time in the Cubs organization
Whether as a pitcher, coach, or working in the front office. Maybe when he retires, he could announce games?

personally
i want dempster in the booth once his arm is finally done. I remember listening to the games he’d call when he was in the ’pen, was pretty funny.

Thank you for posting this!
Not living in the Chicagoland area, this was my first time actually “seeing” the ad. Rec’d!

Thanks for posting this, Al.
Kerry’s simple gesture was all class.
He will truly be missed. I wish him well in Cleveland.

never seen it
but it is cool that players do this, especially a player like Karros who was not a long term resident here.

i DL'd it and can't bring myself to read it
Lord, but I will miss seeing that big Texan there .. and my pastor, who’s from deep inside the Lone Star State and who I gave a Wood T just as the playoffs began, is a Cubs fan only because of him
Now all I hear about is the Longhorns …
Hendry, I hate you.
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!

try
living in Austin, TX and not being a college fan to speak of. I am turning into an anti-Longhorn fan because of it. But the coeds always fix that problem lol

Class
Woody is 100% class act, and will be sorely missed in the Cubbie blue. Watched the rebroadcast of the 20-strikeout game on the MLB network the other night, and found myself riveted some 11 years later!

Luckily
I was not blacked out (tongue in cheek) and DVR’s it

Thanks Al
Thanks to Kerry. True class act, he will be missed. Sometimes in business you make exceptions, Kerry Wood should of been that exception. Hendry should of tried to hammer something out.
Best of luck in Cleveland Kerry.

Love Wood (wait...)
Can’t wait til his return.
As an aside, MLBN just aired his twenty-strikeout game over the weekend. Woody can go where he pleases but he’ll always be a Cub.

The only thing cooler than that...
will be the standing ovation that Kerry and DeRo get in their first game back at Wrigley on June 19th.

I hope Wood is sitting on the bench for three days.
Because that’d mean the Tribe wouldn’t need a closer.

yabbut...
…could also mean Cleveland’s sitting on 10 run lead and ballhawk’s kicking himself for getting a bleacher ticket and actually watching the game from the inside while all those homers went sailing out on to Waveland… ;-)
If I do get tickets for this series, you better believe I’ll be praying for wind blowing in. If I don’t, then, let the southwest gales blow!!!

what's cool about that series
is that not only are my two favorite former cubs going to be playing for the indians, but a family friend signed a minor league deal with the indians in a relief role, so i’ve got even more incentive to watch and root for an AL team. that said, i hope they play well against the cubs, but i pray to god they don’t win once!

matt herges
was a member of every NL west team ever, the rockies and the expo’s.
his family are die hard cardinal fans, i’d love, love love it if the cubs had put him in a minor league deal. not for the team, but for the fact that i’d buy a Herges jersey in a heart beat and wear it every time i go back home.

Cool.
Herges turns 39 on April 1, but the Tribe needs bullpen help. He might have a shot at making the team.

i hope he makes the team
it’s always nice to turn the tv on and see someone from where you grew up on there.
Watching him in the World Series vs Boston in 2007 made the playoffs bearable for me.
