Selig considers suspension of ARod (USA Today)
Oh, this is rich. USA Today says Bud is considering suspending ARod over his recent admission of using PEDs.
Later in same article he says he's also considering reinstating Henry Aaron as the home run king, due to Bonds' ongoing troubles.
Finally, to complete the trifecta of idiocy... Selig says "This is breaking my heart, I don't mind telling you that."
Hey Bud, here's a thought - suspend yourself!

The A-Rod thing
Seems just like a bunch of talk, Selig trying to sound like Sheriff.
Reinstating the record, that is pretty interesting, it seems like a really throw-back response. Probably just a bunch of bull too.

Actions Would Be Too Late
There’s no way MLB should suspend A-Rod in 2009 for testing positive in 2003. All of the other players still active now that tested positive then would need to be suspended, too. Barry Bonds should keep his all-time home run record. MLB turned a blind eye to the problem while Bonds was allegedly juicing. It’s MLB’s fault that Bonds has the record for being his enabler, so Barry should keep the record.

I don't think Bud has grounds for such a suspension..
… given that there was no penalty in 2003 and that these test results were supposed to be private.
As usual, the wrong reaction at the wrong time from King Bud.

All Crap
I think Bud was saying that since Rod broke the law, he could suspend him, but he won’t. Everything there is just trying to make MLB look good through the whole situation. That’s his job…
Still, its all garbage. Ain’t nothing going to happen. If he was suspended, the players union and the Yanks would go nuts. Much less Rod’s lawyers….

A load of grand standing crap
The union agreement was for confidential testing with no penalty and institute more rigorous testing if more than 5% tested positive.
Bud’s going to violate the agreement with the union on the two guys (ARod & Barry) whose confidential tests are public? Bull.

I agree.
Bud should suspend himself and redistribute his ridiculous salary to his paying customers.

If Selig is going to suspend A-Roid, then he has to suspend the other 103 on the list who are still active
Also, Jason Giambi since he was “outed” in 2005. And what about Miguel Tejada?
Selig is a friggin idiot.

I think Selig doesn't even understand how stupid he is
They agreed with this testing in 2003 that there would be no penalty.
If you take Bonds’ record away, then you have to rewrite the entire rulebook to account for when black players weren’t allowed to play.
I hope he does try and suspend A-Rod, so that the Yankees and the Union sue his ass.
Let the Blaine Gabbert era begin.

I think Selig then announced that he's given himself a raise.
If he were to suspend A-Rod, this would set me off like nothing steroid related ever has. It is my belief that there are two reasons why steroids in baseball remain such a huge story:
1) Baseball is “The American Pastime” Football is just entertainment that’s exquisitely packaged, but baseball is a part of the American heart and soul. The same sentimentality will never exist for football despite the TV rating numbers.
2) That MLB and the Union have never fully or partially taken responsibility for thier contribution to the steroid mess which is equally as great as the player’s responsibilities. I think the American public sees MLB and the Union as the hypocrites that they are.

If A-Rod, what about the other active players
who have admitted? Pettite, Brian Roberts, etc.

Baseball is a cesspool right now
It really is. Bud Selig is a lying and incompetent bastard of magnificent proportion. And yet his hand-picked assortment of owners continue in their blinding support of the man. I just don’t get it.
