OT: Spinoff Favorite TV shows
I am posting this after having a great time reading the favorite movie scenes post the other night. I feel like this si a great place to let everyone know what you DVR or TIVo so that maybe other people will get into it. I feel as Cubs fans we all have one similar interest and it might carry onto tthe Tv world. Here is my list of shows that are on my record every new epsiode on my DVR. In no particular order but the ones at the top are most likely my favorite.
1. Lost (Just amazing)
2. 24 (jack Bauer might be the best tv character of all time)
3. The SHield (I know it is done but i will wach any old episode whenever. I want to see a cage match between Vic jack ad Sayid)
4. Heroes (It is starting to suck and i might give up on it)
5. Real World Brooklyn (The most interesting cast ever i think)
6. Rock of Love Bus (Nothing but a good time. I love Brett Michaels. I hope it works out this time for him)
7. Office (It has been worse lately but it is still funny)
8. Survivor (Great show no way around it. James the gravedigger the best tv character ever)
9. Tool Academy (Too funny. Give it a try)
10. For Love of Ray J (Smoking hot girls what else can you ask for)
11. For Love of Money 2 (I really love trashy vH1 reality shows. This is the best!)
12. Hot Stove Show (Really Good)
13. Curb (Larry David is the funniest person ever. Pretty pretty Pretty good)
14. Seinfeld (Just amazing)
15. Chicago Cubs Basbeall #1...
16. I hear the new HBO show that debuted last night was good.

lies
the best part of the super bowl episode is when dwight lit the cigarette and said “smoking will save live today” downhill from there

"Joanie Loves Chachi!"
and don’t forget “The Ropers”, “AfterM*A*S*H”, “Jake and the Fatman”, and of course, “Joey”… Classics, every single one of them.
Oh wait – based on the fanpost title, I thought this was going to be about our favorite tv “spinoffs” of all-time. It’s not? Hmm… my bad.

Galactica 1980
That’s the worst spinoff ever from the original Battlestar Galactica TV series of 1978-79. It only had Lorne Greene (in every episode), Herb Jefferson, Jr. (in some episodes), and Dirk Benedict (in one good episode), from the original series. “The Return of Starbuck” is the only episode of that garbage worth watching. G80 was the worst sci-fi series ever made.

Burn Notice!
I never miss an episode.
The Office, Fringe (A friend of mine is the post production super, otherwise I wouldn’t), I’ve also been going through The Dresden Files… more of a guilty pleasure than a must see.

Mine are
The Office, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Sopranos, Frasier, Whose Line is it Anyway, Two and a Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond.
I’m a comedy guy (with the exception of Sopranos). Gotta have a good laugh to stay going!

My god. I used to think OT meant a thread talking about another team, or Cubs' players wives or Bartman or the best places to drink before a game. Next we are gonna be analyzing U2's new album and Chris Brown's arrest.
Anyway, hell, I’m just as to blame, I’m gonna participate. Here goes:
1 – THE WIRE…will never be topped. In 250 years when the Smithsonian wants to explain what urban America looked like in the start of the 21st century, they will turn to this masterpiece by David Simon. It will simply stand up with the best film, television show, or graphic novel of its kind. It is perfect. It’s all in the game, yo.
2 – The Shield…Chik at his best. Broke open the door for basic cable shows with its grit, camerawork, and superb acting. The final arc is amongst the best I have ever seen on the small screen; The Sopranos should have called Shawn Ryan and learned how to close a show out.
3 – LOST…think of it this way, people…we have less than 1 and 1/2 seasons left. This season has been brilliant because we are getting answers to every question we have had. For as much there may be to complain about this show, look how horrible Heroes is and remember, a sprawling epic drama that entails science fiction, physics, love, and everything else isn’t easy to pull-off.
4 – Dexter…MCH is bloody great, and the internal dialogue is some of the best I’ve ever seen in character development. Rita is hot to boot.

The Office, 30 Rock, Lost, No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia. For those of you have not seen Always Sunny, it is a different kind of comedy but none the less hilarious.

This original list
sucks so bad that it just hired itself out as a breast pump.
All that reality TV? Blech.
1. The Shield — the one thing he got right
2. NYPD Blue — Caruso, not Sifuentes and NOT little Ricky Stratton or Zach
3. The Sopranos
4. Friends — still laugh-out loud funny at tims
5. Deadwood — profanity in imabic pentameter. Don’t get no better!

Anyone that thinks...
…Friends belongs on any “great” show list is deluded.
1. Lost — redefining greatness in television.
2. 30 Rock – craziest, funniest show on television.
3. Battlestar Galactica — see “Lost” above.
4. Friday Night Lights — best real-life drama ever on television.
5. Chuck — escapist fun, with a dash of nerd humor. Plus Yvonne Strahovski is ridiculously good looking.
6. The Office — the post Super Bowl episode was amazing.
7. Bones/House/CSI/Life — all great shows, tied here on this list.
8. The Wire — I agree with the poster above…while the show is finished, it deserves to be on any list of greatest shows ever.
As for other shows I DVR — Arrested Development (one of the greatest comedies of all time), Leverage (a weekly dose of Oceans 11), and West Wing (inspiring).

Other than the Cubs
My TV watching is mostly about finding something to enjoy with each family member.
Watch with wife: House, ER, Life on Mars, Worst Week, Numbers
Watch with teenage son: Lost
Watch with adolescent son: Fringe
Watch with youngest son: American Idol, Dirty Jobs (hey, I’m not watching Disney Channel sitcoms and there’s not much else appropriate for him)
If I miss an episode, no big deal except for Lost.
Once the baseball season starts, I generally won’t watch anything but games.
The DVR is great for grabbing old movies with no commercials off AMC, TCM while we’re sleeping, and watching them at leisure.
Guilty pleasure on DVD: catching up on Battlestar Galactica before it ends
Next wish for vacation viewing: The Wire on DVD

"Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" are my sense-of-humor funny today
I like the new drama “Lie to Me,” from the producers of 24.
Showtime’s “Weeds” and A&E’s “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.”
On my iPod now are all the episodes of “Third Rock from the Sun.” Now, that was some funny stuff.
“M*A*S*H” and “Happy Days” during my younger days.
“Everyone Loves Raymond” and “Seinfeld” and “Friends” more recently. I own all the seasons on DVD.
I just don’t get some of the reality TV stuff or the humor of “The Office” or “My Name is Earl.”
Someone gave me “30 Rock – Season One” as a gift. I will try to get into that. I hear it’s funny.

You’re right, Leah is a fine looking woman. Plus to boot, she’s got a few kids. Not always easy for ladies to go through the whole child birth thing – more than once in this case IIRC – and still be able to put it all together to look like that.

Battlestar Galactica
30 Rock

The Office (British and American), Firefly, Arrested Development, Extras, Scrubs, Battlestar Galactica, Spaced, The Sopranos, South Park, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
But it’s not like I watch a whole lot of television. Only three of those shows are on now, with one ending forever in five weeks, with two others airing in irregular seasons.

Amazing Race
That show is a rush. The premiere episode for this season had me whooping and laughing hard as the contestants had to lug 50 lb. wheels of cheese down a steep hill. Show has great editing, creative and site-specific challenges, and enough relationship tension/love to be one of my all time favorites.

1. Entourage (Jeremy Piven is fantastic)
2. The Office (a little dull this season)

I’ll only list current shows (no Seinfeld, Homicide, etc.).
1. Battlestar Galactica (astonishingly good, if you’ve never seen it)
2. LOST (similar to BSG, but a little annoying in how only the main characters end up living)
3. The Office (didn’t like the American version at first, but the show was smart making the characters more likable than the British versions)
4. 30 Rock (I like it now, though I could see it declining quickly, somehow)
5. Mad Men (slow-moving but really great acting)
I also watch House (which isn’t what it used to be), My Name is Earl (same criticism), ER (it’s filmed in Chicago, and I’m always curious how long-running series end) and the Fox Sunday night lineup (minus King of the Hill).
