What does NON Alcohol section mean?

My buddies and I have been online all morning trying to get tickets for the cubs vs reds july weekend games.. i was able to get through quickly and picked up Friday...

Then on Saturday I couldnt get 6 together for the longest time, I finally went to best available, and 6 came up so I bought them. I just got my tix conformation email and it says I bought the NA section.

Do they have someone watching to make sure no one brings beer into the section? or can you drink it but they dont sell it in those stands?? any help would be appreciated.. my friends arent too excited about going to the game and not being able to buy beers....

I told them I guess we'll have to just walk out and chug beers in between innings!

You can't drink in those sections.

Sorry to tell you that. Yes, they do have people watching, and they won’t sell it to you there.

The whole point is to keep it more family friendly. There will be a lot of kids around. So if you do “chug beers in between innings”, try to be nice to the kids.

Is this at Wrigley?

If so I had no idea they actually had a section for that.

Used to be across the foul pole in the LF bleachers

before the reconstruction. Three rows only, about 20-25 seats per row up to about the edge of the well.

Cool thing is you could go down the stairs to the main concourse or into the bleachers. I liked that since I could get my kosher dogs on the mid-level in the bleachers.

Yep, loved the old Family Section...

It always cracked me up that the Cubs put the no-alcohol, “family” section right smack dab next to the left-field bleacher bums where the beer and expletives flowed freely.

Which is precisely why when I sat there with my kids

we were as close as possible to LF foul pole….

It's good P.R. by the Cubs

If the Cubs had it their way, they’d sell beer everywhere, for all 9 innings, and not worry if people were old enough to buy it.

Not the problem

The problem isn’t the people being old enough to buy it, it’s those that aren’t responsible enough to drink it without making an ass out of themselves.

Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?

Exactly

I’m president of a non-profit group here in Louisville and to raise funds we have people working concessions for Louisville Cardinal football and basketball as well as Louisville Bats (Reds AAA team) and at Churchill Downs.

There are a lot of people who go to these events to do nothing except get hammered. They get cut off, for the most part, pretty quickly. The problem is then they go to another seller and get sold to. It’s a big problem having so many drunks and a lot of them on the road, behind the wheel, after events. There are more arrests and accidents than you would imagine. That’s why most places stop alcohol sales in the seventh inning or right after halftime or right before the second to last race.

Responsibility doesn’t even factor in for some people. They believe nothing will happen to anyone and that they can do what they want. Pretty sad. A NA section is a good idea.

It is in the far left field corner, just the first section close to the field.

Right across the foul pole from where they used to be in the bleachers.

What’s interesting to me (generally a non-drinker) is that they continue to have this section during the playoffs.

The old family section

used to be the best bleacher seats, and usually would be available on the day of the game. I was glad to forego beer for three hours in exchange for great seats to a Cubs game.

A great idea for Wrigley

I have been disgusted in recent years with the deterioration of the crowd at Wrigley. Way too many drunken frat boy types and yuppies who think it their divine right to get drunk and act like an ass clown.

The more non-alchohol and family friendly sections at Wrigley, the better.

$55

Wow! That was the price for the individual tickets for the silver games. That seems like a lot to spend on a seat in the non-alcohol section.

It's because they are considered "field boxes" in section 101.
