The last picture

That will be quite an impressive construction job to get the Sports Corner back up and running in 51 days.

I was thinking the same thing, but...

… they claim they’re going to do it.

How in the world are they going to accomplish that!

I've been wondering that myself.

That’s what they claim, though.

I've seen McDonald's

put up a building in about 2 weeks. I’m sure it’s expensive, but they probably do the math to figure out how much they lose every day they’re not open.

Is it spring yet?

This winter has been too long. And I’m sorry, but Premier League just isn’t good sport. I want baseball back!

You have no idea how long the winter has been here.

Just when it looked like it was warming up for spring, we got socked with another snow today.

Think of it this way...

At least Chicagoland doesn’t run out of salt for the roads after one winter storm (about 6" max…)……

Beer Garden and Sports Corner

The beer garden (I always think that this is where beer gets planted and grown) looks to be intended for the same area the commerative bricks are. Anyone know what happens to them?

And Sports Corner? Why the tear down?

That's a good question about Sports Corner.

I guess the owners wanted an upgraded building.

About the beer garden, the bricks are actually closer to the street, on the right side of the fence as you see it in the photo.

Well...

….. my brick, which says “BeerCub” amazingly enough, is located to the left of the gift shop door, about 10-15 from the wall very near the tree in the foreground. Where exactly are they going to grow the beer?

And like a lot of others, I liked the Sports Corner. I saw the Vikings@ Bears game there last October that the Bears lost on a last second field goal. It’s a shame it’s no longer what it was.

FWIW...

…I am reminded the Viking game was October of ’07, not ’08.Old age does things to the memory.

There are bricks inside the fenced in area as well

Can’t see them because of the snow, but the foreground area of the photo, between the trees, has a bunch of the engraved bricks too.

I took a quick look through the fence earlier this week, and it appears like all the construction digging was happening only in the area where the old patio was, which in the photo above is in the background, behind that second tree. A big trench had been dug near the entrance of the gift shop and it looked like there was some big pipes in there. My guess is they’re bringing plumbing outside, most likely to have wet bar capabilities.

It’s possible the footprint of the beer garden will be larger than the old patio area, but if that happens, I would expect the bricks to be relocated. Seems like an unwritten rule that they should always be accessible by the public.

I think you have it right.

They have some of the bricks fenced in, but the fenced-in area now is larger than the new beer garden will be.
