More details:

Cubs manager Lou Piniella said they will hold back regulars, including Carlos Zambrano, until the second week of games. Zambrano was on the mound early Saturday at Fitch Park, throwing 25 pitches to five different hitters.

"There's no reason -- there's just no hurry," Piniella said of Zambrano.

I want to see if Spellcheck has the stamina to last at least 5 innings...

I know in the first game he’ll pitch around 3-4 innings max, but I like the idea of Spellcheck being the number 5 SP AND Marshall being the spot starter/LRP.

I doubt it would be more than 3 innings the first time out.

But, this will give him a chance to build that stamina. In that sense, it’s a good idea.

I'm interested

Just to see his stuff as a starter. I’m glad we’ll see it early.

Spellcheck

continues to talk about how he has 4 pitches and didnt use them out of the pen, so I am curious to see what he has as a starter now.

Sounds good to me.

Give one of the guys who’s role on this team is somewhat in question an opportunity to add some clarity.

I dont know...

why you guys keep calling him “Spellcheck.”

I, personally, have no trouble whatsoever spelling the name Jeff Samarz-…
Samerg…
Sam…

Well, maybe just call him that this once. ;-P

P.s.: I’m kidding about Samardzija, of course.
